corolla_nut Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Yeah it always sucks how people get into these kinds of accidents and it's always the p-platers that cop the flack. As I've said many times before introduce mandatory driving tests every time you renew your licence. I also think you should have to complete an advanced driving course before you can get your licence. That reminds me, I was driving over the bells line of road yesterday, we'd just left Lithgow and we were making our way up the really steep part. Then we saw to cop cars and we're like what's going on here? Someone in a commodore was coming down the mountain, obviously a little to fast for the conditions, and he's managed to slide across his lane, two lanes of oncoming traffic and run straight over the gutter on the side of the road which is, coincidentally, alot deeper on the other side which you can't see. So the gutter saved him from making a mess of himself on the stone wall, but he still had to get winched out cause his wheel was stuck over one side of the gutter. Maybe that'll slow him down, that corner's hairy at the best of times, even worse when it's been raining heavily for half the morning and it's foggy, and in all likely-hood has not been serviced in the last 30,000 k's so it has shit brakes and more than likely bald tyres.
Hiro Protagonist Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 The other day I finally found out what those little circle thingies are on the side skirts of BMWs etc.....all this time I thought they were parking sensors, gutter lights, all sorts of things, never once guessed that they were jacking points... I guess there was something good about The Transporter after all.....
Lexxi[ke35] Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I figured out what I wanna do when I'm done with school, just don't know what its called so I can't find out how to get there

Lexxi[ke35] Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Ahahaha true damn... Them people that walk around with the beagle searching everyone for drugs and stuff in quarantine and airports and stuff. And its not a cop. They're with the cops, but they're different.

Nitephyre Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Well due to SA"s recent weekend, There is going to be a guideline introduced to SA where DOT will be fitting a light to the roof of P platers cars which will be speed zone updated via GPS and if you go over the speed limit the light will come on and you have to go in to the DOT and pay a fine/fee to have it reset. Looks like you guys will have to be extra careful. Heh, nice one fool
LukeAE71 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Aaaaahhhhhhhhh thanks  Customs Detector Dog Handler! <<< That's what its called ;) Enquire directly with AQIS about the requirements for a role there. We had AQIS people on site where I used to work (meatworks, yes they don't just work at the Airport doing Customs and Border Security) and they did courses run through AQIS from what I can remember. I do not recall any type of Uni involvement in this type of career but best to enquire with AQIS direct. They can also send you out for work experience too if you like just to see if you like the role before committing to it as a 'role for life'. Luke
Lexxi[ke35] Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Ahh thanks. Yeah I saw on the website you have to be fit and healthy ( lol) and do an interview and psychometric test, then you do a 2 week or 2 day course in canberra, and then 3 months training, and then you go back to Canberra to test if your good enought and then they give you a certificate and there you go  and they don't mention anything about uni which is good ;) I'll talk to them about work experience, that's a good idea, thanks ;)

godlovesugly Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Aaaaahhhhhhhhh thanks  Customs Detector Dog Handler! <<< That's what its called ;) don't work for AQIS, try and get a job with Customs. Customs do intersting stuff.... AQIS look for seeds and fruit and shit. With customs you can do anything from working in an office to working on a boat out at sea looking for illegal fisherman (you are armed). the money isnt that good but if your coming straight from high school its better than nothing, i work with customs but not for them and i know i get paid more than most of them, but i also know they enjoy their job a lot more than i do.
trav_555 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) Ok guys and girls Not sure if you watch the news but its crazy flooding in coffs harbour/bellingen area (where i am) i got caught in them in the ke70 all i can say is thnakgod iwas smart enough to change to an electronic distributer. as i had to drive through water up to my bonnet (car isnt lowered :S) most of the car stuff i bought that i didnt pack away got rained on (including the 7 rib block) and now the 7 rib is rusted my car conked out twice in about 1.5 foot -1m high rushing water that i needed to get through to get home, but it started up again both times :bash: so my 20min dirve from tafe to home turned into a 5 hour drive as i was waiting/ looking for the best route home it was very scary as i was by myself and mobiles didnt work on the highway i drove past 10+ cars on my side of the road that were completely totalled! was like a war zone, or something you would see in those end of the wolrd zombie/alien movies the sirens are still going off i can hear them when i walk outside and tonight is supposedly even worse than last night! i went for a drive after work through the town, it turns out a leisure cruise boat i helped make at work 12 years ago with my dad is capsized and beached 10km up riverr then about 15km along the beach, because the entire warf it was tied to washed away!!! there are cars in the main street that you can see an inch of the roof line of them BIG CLEAN UP to be done so thats whats my omg Travis o and ps. i just blew the head gasket in ym ke70, off to the workshop i go now to pull out the other stocker 4k out of one of the ke70's and chuck it in the black one :y: f@$king ghey Edited April 1, 2009 by trav_555
