Hey just wondering i was going to sand back my ke55 and take panels off and spray them inside a shed. Has anyone done it themselves before is it easy or would it be better to get someone whos knows what there doin to do it?

Maybe do all the prep work yourself, then get somebody handy with a spray gun to do the actual spraying for you. :no2:

Yep. The paint job is only as good as the prep work you put under it.

Yeh the fun bit sanding it down(N) Fixed all the rust holes atleast and bogged and got that smooth

buddy, its not that hard depending on what paint you are using. eg: acrylic or a 2pac enamil i think... its been a while. for a first timer acrylic is dead easy I'm no panel beater or spray painter and i painted an rx7 with not 2 many issues.

prep work is everything, the actual painting is the easy part.

 

my best tip is to take your time and not rush otherwise it will turn out half assed.

haha i did a spray can job on my ke70 and it turned out awesome i went to bunnings and bought 30 bucks worth of black gloss paint and some primer :sob:

 

 

good job i think. lots of spray can practice helped so i got no runs.

ya do the prep yourself to save money, just wet sand it down or something like that but yes I would take it to a paint booth, you can sometimes get an ok look out of a spray can but it takes a lot of time and its hard to get it on even, and in the end you spend quite a bit to get enough paint on the car to make it look ok.prep yourself, go to a booth.

There's a site on the net somewhere (can't remember exactly, and can't be bothered searching) that shows you how you can do a pretty good cheap-arse paint job using rust-paint and high-density foam rollers, for the fraction of the cost of a spray job.

I'm not sure where you live, but I'm sure there are guys that run this sort of motorsport all over the place.

I'm from SA, i race at Lanac Park (based near Mt Compass)

If your in the Adelaide area the SDCC (Southern Districts Car Club) organize the events

it is a really cheap and fun.

it is also a way to get the OST (Observed Section Trial) out of the way so you can get a rally licence.
