trav_555 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 well a 6 A engine i found out is a 1.4 dohc 6A The 1.4 L (1397 cc) 6A-FC was the only 1.4 variant, produced from 1989 through 1992. Output was 82 hp (61 kW) at rpm and 87 ft·lbf (117 N·m) at rpm. Cylinder bore was 76 mm (3 in) and stroke was 77 mm (3.03 in) for this 4-valve DOHC engine. now this might be a worthwhile conversion as its under the 15% upgrade limit its a 1.4 litre and a dohc engine? what do people reckon? you could even maybe put 4age efi gear on it even? tell me what you think? 7shades Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 The problem will lie with the FWD dizzy sticking out the back of the head and making sweet sparky love to the firewall... Quote
trav_555 Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 ahh so there is that kinds of problems ok, just a thought though would solve a few engineering problems, just thought id add it to possible ones maybe cheers Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 A 6AFC in a KE70 will have all the problems of a 4AFE conversion, with less power and torque. They were crap in the AE90s, and they'll be crap in a KE70 too unless you want to pour money down the hatch. And once you start doing that, you'd might as well just used a 4AGE and skipped all the hassles.....or, if you wanted to do it to avoid P-plate restrictions, then you should have just used a worked 5K and saved a whole heap of money on doing a conversion (bolt-in wins almost every time) Quote
trav_555 Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 yea yea true man cept i think 5k's are out of the 15% range slightly and a 6a is dohc, but yea don't sound to good ahh well some things are just too good to be true Quote
towe001 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Bit of a shame it can't be bored out to 81mm Quote

You too can do the same with a 4K or 5K, if you put the effort in. Quote
trav_555 Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 well i have a worked 4k with a lumpy cam( don't know specs came with new engine) higher compression, need an ignitor for the elec dizzy i have lying around so at the moment points, stock carb, i want a bigger one in market for one actually, and yeah, when you guys say bore it out do you mean just make the bore larger, and this way do you need larger pistons? machg Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 "+" it would be unique, "-" '16 valve' will be "F" series spec, i.e. low performance application, not "G" series goodness. Has anyone in OZ ever tried "de-stroking" a 4age? Also if you have the money and don't mind cross breeds: a Suzuki G13B engine would go good and be interesting. Has anyone in OZ ever tried "de-stroking" a 4age? HAHAHA - can you imagine, a 20v 6AGE...HAHAHAHA - effectively a whippersnipper motor - all revs, no guts... Quote
trav_555 Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 o and i forgot to mention i have extractors and 2 inch exhaust whipper snipper? put it on my mountain bike!! Quote
Bowler Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) HAHAHAHA - you would think although a weaker block, stronger crank maybe? 6AGE, bettered only by a 2AGZE.... Edited November 5, 2008 by Bowler Quote
machg Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) 6age, I'd like to see that, its only 200cc less, it would be that much slower than a 4age, would it? (Its only 20V's that suffer from having the dissy in the wrong spot, 16 valve 4ages don't have that problem) Edited November 5, 2008 by machg Quote
beerhead Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Haven't heard of it being done in aus, but I know the fasted NZ 4age drag car is 1.4L, revs at 10,000rpm and puts down over 500hp. Low 9 second passes from memory. "+" it would be unique, "-" '16 valve' will be "F" series spec, i.e. low performance application, not "G" series goodness.
