ABORT Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Hey I'm new here got myself a ke20 I'm doing up. Just wondering what the exact factory specified weight is for a late 73 ke20, 3k, 4 spd. Looking into engine conversion etc and need to know exact weight to see what engines can legally go in. I have had a good look through google, books etc and asked a few mates and all i can get is roughly 760kg? Any help appreciated Thanks Jon Quote
Rolliac Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 That does sound about right. About the biggest engine you'll get in there is 2.2L NA or 1.8 turbo (roughly). Quote
Redwarf Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Contact your local transport authority and they should give it to you. That way you should have the figure that they'll work off. Quote
parrot Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Do they still specify the tare (?) weight on the rego papers or rego sticker? That would be the legally recognised weight from transports perspective. Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) My 1973 ke25 used to have 760 as the weight on the registration sticker, took it for blueslip and it got changed to 810. And it went no where near a weighbridge. So by that change its legal to put a 2l turbo motor in by 10kg's. I will check my gregories manual and get back on here (hopefully with a definate answer) EDIT* No weight specified in manual. So an exact weight will need to be gotten off your registation authority. philbey Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 The change may be a change from dry to wet weight. Quote
KEhendo Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 i got my ke20 weighed at a toymods dyno day. 1972 ke20, 4k, k40. 812kgs. standard apart from the replacement 4k. my rego sticker says 750. hope this helps. Quote
curly Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 For weights they use the heaviest sedan weight auto, in the code of practice a ke20 sed is 778kg ke25 is 756kg, depends what state as to what you X by, talk to your engineer to get it right first time Quote
