having a few problems with my ke35,have pulled the motor out to repaint the bay,now ive put it back together the car is refusing to start,

its not the battery(tried 3 different ones)

the wiring to everything has been checked and is all connected right,but i turn the key and all i get is a click under the dash,thats it,WTF? :)

Can anyone shed some light on what it might be :P

Mine does the same thing now and again........ may have something to do woth the starter motor solenoid.....

i heard its a kinda common problem on the k motors..... hope this helps

did you put all your engine grounds back on? might not be enough power getting to the starter motor

cleaned all connections,changed starter motor,changed battery,checked all earths,still just getting a click from the starter relay,dunno what else to do?

hoping nothing is stuck in the flywheel or ring gear??

try turning the engine at the front crank bolt with a ratchet,hope its free?? what it could be :hmm:???

just a stupid thought try changing the relay it might be the problem!!!!

is it the started ticking?

 

Give it a bit of a whack with a hammer (via a block of wood if need be)

 

Sticky solenoids will often tick, a little bit of a whack frees them up usually.

Try standing on one foot, point your tounge out to the left and cluck like a chicken. :)

If that doesnt work at least your neighbours get a laugh. :lolcry:

Sounds like our weekly bad ground connections thread. If you just painted the bay, the thread and area around the grounds will be painted. Remove the grounds straps and sand back to bare metal under them, then redo the bolts up nice and tight.

 

The way to check is you will have a reduced voltage at the starter, probably below 10 volts. Use a multimeter to test the trigger wire on it.

Do all of the above again, then check if your battery OK?

Try running a jumper cable from battery negative terminal to the starter casing ...

This gives you a nice ground connection straight to the starter motor.

 

If this works, then you have a bad ground connection somewhere between battery and block.

 

If it still just clicks, then listen closely and see if the click is coming from the starter motor itself, or somewhere else - let us know.
