JiP Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Okay so after flushing my radiator I decided to give my coolant bottle a clean as it was full of sludge. Does anyone know how to get it all out?? I bleached it as well as the wiper washer bottle. The problem is that even with the soaking and the using of a bottle brush I couldn't remove the stains and all the sludge. Anyone know how to clean them up?? I remember mum had some bleach a couple years back that would remove the yellow too. Also I went to replace the grommets but couldn't figure out where you can get the washer bottle one. It leaks from the bottom. Does anyone know where?? I went to Clark Rubber and they can't help. And before someone says it I know I can get an aftermarket bottle but don't want to, I wanna keep the original ones with green caps. Quote
Trev Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Best way to clean it out is with small corse rocks, I use this method whenever I do a radiator flush at work, It works alot better than it sounds. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 You sure you can't get them from clark rubber? I got one from there. Took a bit to get it in place but it's in there fine now. Quote
7shades Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Caustic soda pearls... Mr Muscle oven cleaner does a pretty good job if you can't find the good shiz. Quote
kiahn Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 or you could use a bottle brush from kitchen cleaning section in almost any store there just a stick with bristles on all side so you can get inside the bottle. i had same problem with mine, 25 year of radiator sludge  Quote
JiP Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 I used a bottle brush and it did a crap job. I went to clark rubber and they don't stock the grommet I need. Surely there is somewhere I can get this one?? Quote

Surely there is somewhere I can get this one?? Just seal it up with a tiny bit of blue max. I find a good soak in napisan works wonders for the bottles. I scrubbed mine out with a rag on a stick. JiP Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 Whast Blue Max?? Is that what I can use to stop the drip?? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Whast Blue Max?? Is that what I can use to stop the drip?? Its silicon sealant gasket maker shit that you use on water fittings, diffs etc. Buy it from any auto parts store. Quote
silverra23 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I have been told hot soapy water and a half a cup of rice will do the trick. Shake the sh*t out of it with the rice sealed inside and it cleans out all the corners... Quote
JiP Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 Okay well cool. I'll try that this afternoon. thanks. I do have some of that blue gasket shit and i'll give it a go too but still would rather a new groomet. Tho this will do for a temp fix. thanks. Quote
