March 5, 200917 yr comment_324967 KE70 Strutbrace, will it work in a *E3* possibly a stupid question Report
March 5, 200917 yr comment_324991 Highly doubt it as the strut towers are further apart in the E7. Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325013 thats not the Only prob Si... the Stud spacing on the top hats are different. KE30 ones sit closer together. AE86 and KE70/AE71 will use the same Brace.. just make sure you get an adjustable one when going from 86 to E7's Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325063 AE86 and KE70/AE71 will use the same Brace.. just make sure you get an adjustable one when going from 86 to E7's Why adjustable? I pulled one off a mates sprinter and bolted it straight to my KE. Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325100 noob question but when using adjustable do you adjust to pull in on the towers or push outt? Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325117 noob answer. id say push out. don't burn me if I'm wrong. I don't think twishing the chassis either way would be a terribly great idea. The adjustment is probably more so to make it fit perfectly!? Edited March 6, 200917 yr by Taz_Rx Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325121 ^^^ exactly, no two cars are ever the same, if it fits one ke30, it is not certain to fit the next one. You should try measuring up some of the old holdens, its quite funny what you find! Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325122 I wouldnt suggest torquing the chassis, sounds like a bad idea. Might be able to accomplish something if you do it on a wheel aligning setup, but if you push the towers apart, you will reduce camber and just generally ruin your wheel alignment. As stated, its for fitting to bent cars. Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325140 you don't move the chassis with the Brace  ..... as stated over the years the strut towers can either move in or a mm or 2, which is enough for the brace to line up. As for adjustable ones and why, its just handy Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325304 I would wind it out slightly to take out any lash in the joints. That way you've got no movement whatsoever, its a solid as it can be. Mind you, the geometry of old Porsche front ends tends to see the strut towers spread outwards not push inward, so I'd be inclined to wind those in to take up the lash. don't go whacking a 12 inch shifter on it and dialing it out all the way though. Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325305 don't see why, wouldnt that add added stress? i know on the E7 there is a circle ridge bit near the 3 bolts, the strut brace sits on that perfect... mine was about 2mm longer on each side... seemed fine. Found it kept the steering lighter for longer. Report
March 6, 200917 yr comment_325307 I would wind it out slightly to take out any lash in the joints. That way you've got no movement whatsoever, its a solid as it can be. Thats what i meant, not fully pushing the struts out but as Tom said just wind it out rather than inwards to take the lash out of it. Report
