Ford 2l Pinto Engine Into Ke30

I think he was implying that the Cosworth came first, and the 4AGE was based off it, therefore the 4AGE is a 1.6L Cossy. Other way around implies that the 4A came first, which it didn't.

Although actually, the 4A is supposedly based off the BDA (Belt-Driven A-series, which is based off the Kent), which is a 1.6L. The Cossy most people refer to is the 2.0L YB, which is based off the Pinto anyway.

there's the thread killer right there :y:

What's wrong with the old 2L pinto? Heaps of potential with performance parts fairly easy to come by.

I remember Brian Munroe running 9 sec quarters in his Mk2 escort with a turboed 2L SOHC motor back in the early 90's. Might see if I can find and scan the old mag articles, the guy was a true innovator.

Sounds like a good idea. Good torque. Even with the 1.6L Escort the power seemed OK for running around town (noticeable difference after driving the corolla with a 4K). The gearbox shifts nice and tight.

The bonus with the 2L pinto is that its got a 32/26 weber on the engine as stock; saw an engine in a Cortina out the tip the other day.

This might be an idea for the new ke30.

Twitchy: can you elaborate on this 1 tooth advanced thing?

Sorry mate, forgot about this one..........

They used to advance the timing one tooth on the belt, lost a little power right at the top end but gained a fair bit through bottom end & mid range.
