nikctime21 Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Get a gigantic 5 inch monster tacho. Really what does your car look like, classic, streetmachine etc and what look do you want? Are you asking for brands or style of tacho? Quote
78_7kRolla Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Get a small vdo one like mine, it fits where the useless clock is (with some modification). Or you could just "shift by feel"! Quote
towe001 Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Next question - Do you want glasses or binoculars ?? Quote
philbey Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Get the largest, most ridiculous, 11 thousand rev, silver body, carbon fibre faced, Maglite sized shift light tach you can find for 1000 bucks. It will be cool and very original. Quote

And getting back to the question - ^^ Thats something to think about. Another thing is - keep it looking factory ? Out of sight ? Or in your face where everybody and their friendly police person (hehe) can see it and want to class you as a "hoon" ? When i had my old '30 i had a k-mart cheapie (about a 3.5" thing) sitting on the steering column. It was easy to read due to the size, nice centre location (i could read the tacho and the speedo at the same time). And it was below the dash line meaning it was out of everybody else's sight and most importantly out of my sight while watching the road. Quote

But ive removed my original RHS bezel and placed it in the dash. Quote
Victim Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Get the largest, most ridiculous, 11 thousand rev, silver body, carbon fibre faced, Maglite sized shift light tach you can find for 1000 bucks. It will be cool and very original. AMEN! Haha... and whilst you're at it, get a boost gauge. And don't give me this "my car is NA" crap, you don't go fast unless you've got a boost gauge. And the best places to mount them are always the most inconvenient ones. Matter of fact, my cuzzin cut a hole through the windscreen of his VL turbz to mount his gaugez. He even altered the shift light to change it to a Dolphin torch with a red globe for maximum shiftability! pssssssshhht flutterflutterflutter. And stock up on BOV's. hahaha... ahhh... VL turbz. But on a serious note, what exactly are you asking? Do you mean what kind of tacho will be compatible with the KE30? Or just a general aesthetic question? I'm assuming you're asking what brands will *work* in your KE30 as you've placed this thread in the 'general mechanical' questions area, so in short pretty much all aftermarket tacho's will work for you as long as you install them correctly. If nothing else / for peace of mind, ask wherever you're buying it from if it'll work. I.e. "mr. repco, will this AutoMeter Pro ShiftLightWank Ricer 3000 work in my KE30?" At the very least you'll be able to take it back. And just a tip, having a tacho that measures to 12,000rpm automatically enhances your engine to actually rev to 12,000rpm, it's a fact. Actually it'll make it rev to 13,000rpm because if you don't hit the redline regularly you're not a real racer. For lyfe! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Or you could just "shift by feel"! hahaha, but that only works with "red bloody italians"!! 8/ If you want to get crafty then do something like this.... Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Think you left your windscreen switch on  8/ Quote

Taz_Rx Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Yeah forgot to mention.... When I fitted the tacho in the dash I obviously had to do away with the stock fuel and temp guages, as well as the charge and oil lights. Lights are now just under the boost guage, I have a water and oil temp guage and my fuel cell doesn't have a level indicators so I'm all good. Quote
