SLW42 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 falcon diff??? And then beams 3sgte  Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 I will be replacing the muffler on this thing soon, redback straight thru. Â Hopefully get the $$ to put a hotdog resi in the front before GOR but not looking the case. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 16, 2011 Author Report Posted January 16, 2011 5K Reduction starter now kicking this thing into life! Still got some problems. Put an earth strap on the starter motor bolt as i thought it was an earthing issue. Â Still happening so i'll be replacing the main power cable to the starter soon. Â Not the ignition barrel as i can hear the solenoid clicking over every time, hoping its the main power lead. Â Â Hopefully replacing the diff next weekend, as i don't trust the current one for the GOR trip. Â Sorted some 1.5" lowering blocks from Twinkytodd. Gonna machine them down to 1" and put them in when the diff goes in to bring the ass down a bit. Quote
nme308 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 I've been without interweb access for the last couple of weeks and I see you STILL arn't finished... :glare: Â Sif these things ever are! :lolcry: Â Whatcha decided to sling in for a diff? Got something for the right price??? Â Cheers, Jason Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 17, 2011 Author Report Posted January 17, 2011 Just a Skyriner diff i think. Gonna cost me 350-400 to get it rebuilt with new bearings and hopefully be able to use 2 short axles. Â How much wider was the 31 diff than the T series? Quote
nme308 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 The skyline borgy was 104mm wider than the T series. I think using the two short axels approach should get you within cooey... I was too lazy to shorten it and just jammed the whole thing under my TA23. With the standard rims onboard it actually made the car look heaps better - just gave me hastles chasing down two pairs of totally different offset rims when I went to get mags. :laff: Â Cheers, Jason Quote
philbey Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 what'd you pay for the reduction gear starter and where from? Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 You've got a week and a half nackers! Get into it! Â Are you bringing someone on the trip still? Â Jarrad Quote

Bloke at Boss Differentials here in adelaide said that there isnt much difference in long and short axles :/  $350/pr for shortened, re-splined and re-hardened axles.   what'd you pay for the reduction gear starter and where from?  Got it off a 5K out of a mates van that i sold to a mate and grabbed the starter in between.   You've got a week and a half nackers! Get into it!  Are you bringing someone on the trip still?  Jarrad  Hahaha, i'll have it done!  Yep, Bringing Pete (KETURBO25) along. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Heading down early today to rip the 4.5:1 diff out of the panelvan to go into this. Should make for some interesting differences in acceleration. Â All i can say is thank god I've also got a 5spd. Â Picked up a replacement clutch from Raven, No heavy duty or anything, just a stocker till i find myself a W50. So many different size clutches with the same spline, nice wide selection to choose from. Â Also got an Aerial for the radio from Sam (Bugzbarney) installed and working a treat! Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Came home thursday to find a package from Twinkytodd waiting for me. Some 1.5" lowering blocks! Â So yesterday i took them into work and got them into the milling machine. Â Blocks went from 1.5" down to 1". Â The original pins and holes were 12mm items to suit KE20 borgwarner i think? Â Anyways, the pins got milled away when i did the blocks. Â Drilled the holes to around 13.7mm then reamed to 14mm. Â Cut up some 14mm round bar to size, then gave em a press fit into the blocks and DONE! Â Pics up later. Quote
