I've got one half completed for an install into Tar. Usual cut off spring mounts and weld on leaf ones. Tailshaft flange is different and the snout of the diff is a little longer so you'd need to shorten the shaft slightly. They'll also increase your track by around 10mm either side.

 

Also Zenki LSD ready. :wink:

Diff seems to be on its way out :glare:

 

Do i get another K series or save the hassle next time and find a T series?

 

 

For heavens sakes please skip the T-series altogether! :o

1) They are an extremely long spindly axel which necks down 4 times from barely decent to spaghetti!

2) Out of just about any donor car they are likely to be in sad condition.

3) LSD's are over priced by FAR.

4) They are'nt strong enough to handle a cig locker even if you were prepared to risk being caught...

 

My vote went to the R31 Bog Warmer as it is just able to squeaze into my celica without being cut - although with a little extra cash spent on cutting it would have saved me a couple of hastles chasing down mags! A lockrite or gunna locker which are along the line of the detroit locker are cheap and so far I have given mine a good workout on the street and love it.

 

I would advise getting something stronger than a T series given that it appears you enjoy a spirited drive and have the horse power bug. :)

Ooops! No direct offense meant to Tar above... Just my personal opinion the T series is not a decent long term solution for abuse!

Took the wagon for a great drive tonight. Leaned the idle mix down a bit and adjusted the idle up. Sounds more rotor brap now :ninja:

 

Worked out to around 200km of mainly hills driving :P

 

Leaning down the idle mixture really helped down low driveability and pickup.

 

Almost home and the welds on the exhaust cry enough and the exhaust drops.......AGAIN!

 

Bit of rummaging around and i was able to use a sparkplug lead (spare) thru the chassis rail to hold the pipe off the ground. And some of my coke to get the pipe to a touchable temperature.

 

Managed to get it home safe and sound. Upping the idle earlier in the night now meant at idle, it sounded like an outboard at a washdown bay :S

 

Ugh, time for a full new system. Hope someone can do it in time for christmas and cheap :(

wow that exhaust really is playing games with ya bud, agreed on the diff choice mate why not go for one of the best straight away and when ya ready to do it all i.e motor swap, diff swap, if there is a future engine conversion on the cards??

Not at the moment. Just don't wanna have to keep swapping the diff every few months.

 

Although i do have another KE3x shell that may get some engine swapping goodness :hmm:

:hmm: exactly hahah, if the wagon is gonna stay natro k motor then a t series would be good for it imo, but if i had the money and time on my hands i'd be using a falcon or hilux diff, simply cause i'm a little bias towards those two manufacturers, and i've got a falcon diff in the shed hahaha

I want a diff thats not gonna sap up all the power before it hits the tyres... :fuzz:

 

Ryan, you could try Carline Mufflers at Marion. I got a full system there for my AE71 for like $280.

 

Not bad for a full new system and muff etc :dance:

 

Thats the same as what i got quoted from the place that did the one on the tonner.

 

I'm gonna try aussie discount on Port rd. Seeing as they're right nextdoor (literally)

Car's Booked in thursday morning for the exhaust. 2" over the diff. Undecided weather it will have a straight thru or triple flow. Guys are gonna slot one of each on for a test listen.

 

If i end up with a straight thru, its definatly getting a hotdog up under the front seats some time before GOR.
