Beauc
Hey guys, picked up a cheap rwd 4age today, missing a few bits and pieces but it shouldn't take long to gather it all up.. Can anyone tell me the exact model and specs of this 4age and also the box i got with it, it bolts up the the back of the 4age but its filthy at the moment and can't see any writing or marks on it, anyways here's the pics. Thanks guys..

parrot
I'd say you have an early RWD 3 rib 86kw 4AGE. Pictures are a bit blurry, how many ribs are on the block under the inlet, almost certainly 3 rather than 7 on the later blocks.

Beauc
Thanks Sam, Do you guys think it will be hard to find a shifter for it? Or will i be able to modify something else for it? Box cost me $100 guy wanted cash from Christmas he owns an engine shop
Sam_Q
$100 is a great price, getting another shifter shouldnt pose a problem. Maybe ask someone on ae86dc they love breaking gearboxes there. Nothing else fits only the ae71 and ae86 t50

toyota_ae71
Sorry for the hijack, but ive recently got my hands on a t18 t series t-50 and the shifter wasn't in the best shape so i looked around my shed and found a k-50 shifter. It looked the same and it actually fits, even changed gears etc etc. Has anyone else came across this?
beerhead
Yep - Late model KE70 K50 shifter is the same as a T50 shifter - dime a dozen at the wreckers.
Sam_Q
but arn't the shifters different even between the two models of T50?
beerhead
Yep, From what toyota_ae71 is saying it seems T18 T50 shifter might match the early K50 shifter, and AE71-AE86 T50 match the later KE70 K50 shifter.
