Felix Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) The slight reverse rake doesn't really work on those things. Needs a little forwards rake, maybe raise the rear a bit? RA28GT Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 The slight reverse rake doesn't really work on those things. Needs a little forwards rake, maybe raise the rear a bit? Hang a supertrapp out the back. ;) Lowered front bumper, gives it a bit of a 50's Chev look. more... Wow that square looks good, i love the bumper but it would be a fair amount of work. I hate the reverse rake on these too, tomorrow its going up 1-1.5" once i can figure out the splines. Whats a supertrapp? LEAVE IT! i like it, i always try keep the sill line of the car level with the ground when lowering cars. Your seem to be pretty good IMO, honestly its probably too low all round. But if you can get away with driving it like that DO IT, big thumbs up from me! The rear sill line is roughly 1" lower at the moment, and the rear looks way lower because of the guard line. I can drive it like this but my friends the police wouldnt dig it. Especially when it has 3" whitewalls. Yeah, looks shit hot. :D Like all my cars that's just way too low, but it's the only way. It's not low enough if it doesn't scrape :) recently we did a cheque (spelling?) bonnet for a beetle, don't paint it as you might get sick of it, we did a cover that slips on and ties on underneath. Sorta like a car bra I guess. We did one in black for them as well, fits like a glove. Most motor trimmers would help you out if you go that way. Makes it even easier to change the look of the car. JP My orange one has the sway bar about 20mm from the ground, i sure know what scraping is ;) BUT since the orange one has 14" rims it doesnt look quite as low. Where as this is an instant cop magnet. Having my corolla defected for being too low I'm a little un-easy about going too crazy low. And thats a great idea about the bonnet, everything i do with be removable (stripe will be vinyl etc) so ill be able to revert back to stock if i wanted to at any stage. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Supertraps are a type of muffler. They were pretty popular on rotaries back in the day. Quote
philbey Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 yeh they kind of disappeared, they were developed for bikes I reckon. Change the number of plates in the back to change note/performance. Quote
Felix Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Yea the Supertrapps were popular in the early 90's over here on modded cars. They used to be common on speedway sprintcars and the like. The megaphone style with adjustable plates would look cool hanging out the back of your Type 3. You can get different end caps to change the look and sound. Probably wouldn't be exactly cheap. Quote
RA28GT Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Wonder why they are not popular now? I wonder how much their worth? Done a bit of work today. New rear 195/70/R15 to fill the guards a little better than the 165's. New 3" whitewalls (not for everyone, i think they f@$king rock) Painted inner guards Raised rear and dropped front (slight rake) Now what colour should i paint the wheels? Felix Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 An almond or champagne colour for the rims? Stance is looking good. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I think it looks wicked with the silver wheels it has now. IMO painting them a different colour will "crowd" the wheels with too many colours. Quote
Fat Bastard Customs Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 ^^^^^agreed only put some nice chrome dress rims on it, those roof racks from before (with period luggage of course) and leave it. Cheap, easy and pimpin' P.S. you cannot pimp properly without fuzzy dice  Quote
RA28GT Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Peep mirror/s? i love type 3 selecta! Ive tried the peer mirror thing on my orange one, it doesn't work. Just doesn't look right. Quote
Felix Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Yep. Some bullet mirrors maybe? suit the sportier lines of the fastback better. Quote
RA28GT Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 You mean door mounted? I quite like no mirrors on these things, looks very clean and changes up the lines a little bit. Quote
