johnny_blacks Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Hey all Not really a automotive question as such but yesterday I heard a statistic that there are only 100 2 door ke30s registered in australia. I am having a lot of engine troubles with mine and it will be a lot to spend to get it running nicely and body needs a bit of work. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are? Like will these cars be worth a bit if I spend my money on it to get it running nicely?? Or should I sell off for a cleaner project? Any help would be great, thanks! Quote
Grand Master of Awesome Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 just buy a new 4k...$50? Quote
Karllos Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Id say just get it running good and work on the body when you can, if it is a project car, and you like/love it then keep it :P Karl. Quote
h1_roll4 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Keep it! You'll regret it hardcore if you sell. And the feeling that you get when you see one drive past you... Not good. Quote
jono1986 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 so is there a difference with a ke30 2 door and a 2 door ke35, or are they the same thing.....or is the ke30 2 door the one with a pillar?? Quote
towe001 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 A ke30 2 door is basically a 2 door sedan (or a tudor) whereas the ke35 is a coupe ^ke30 2 door^ ^ke35 coupe^ For me the 2 door is way sexier :P Quote
LukeAE71 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Cars that need fixing are hard to sell, fix it and enjoy it and if you don't enjoy it after you have fixed it then just sell it. People are crazy to think that Corollas are going to appreciate in value over the years. Unless of course you have a truly overrated one owner KE10 or KE20. Quote
philbey Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 And even then, pffft, KE20 owners wish they had a KE10 anyway. Quote
Jason Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 ahem? your telling me clasic gems like This are not going to apreiciate? Quote
jono1986 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 ahem? your telling me clasic gems like This are not going to apreiciate? LMFAO...... Quote
JiP Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Post up some pics of it dude. :D IMO keep it. Even if it gets replaced as the daily and becomes the project. Slowly work on it and fix it up. K engines are cheap to replace and easy to work on. It all depends on how much you really like the car. I have a mate who spent tens of thousands of dollars doing his up and now he is affraid to drive it. Tho if done up nicely could be a nice sunday cruiser... Quote
Felix Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) You just gotta decide whether you really like the car or not, and if the time and money you would have to invest would be worth it. Most likely it would be far cheaper to just buy a very good example of that model and use your old one as spares. As for corollas appreciating in value, well don't hold your breath, unless it is a overrated original example. Now if you had one of the rarer more historically significant models it probably will moreso over time. I've seen hundreds of the ke30 2door sedans on the roads over the years. I've seen maybe ten ke15/17 sprinters on the road in the last 15 years..... The ke1x sprinters are rarer than R100's yet are only worth 7 grand or so for a overrated example, whereas a overrated R100 is worth around 30-40 grand. Edited April 1, 2010 by Felix Quote
shaded_shadows_KE55 Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 I have a ke55 coupe brought for 500 another ke55 for 600 and one I'm looking at now for 800 all the same condition so where I am prices for even a ke55 coupe are going up and there getting harder to find. Quote
