Ben-89 Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Yeah, I don't think Toyota put their names on radios until the 80's. I've got a little mp3 transmitter that plugs into the cig lighter, so I'll hide some speakers in the back where the originals are and use the original FM. I haven't checked the tape deck yet, but I've got heaps of old tapes :) The rego. I really want to use it, but I think vicroads charges 400 bucks to re-issue the plates, even though I have the plates. My hardtop has original B/W plates and was registered 1 month before this one. That will cost 90 bucks to transfer, so economics may dictate me going with that. It's a shame because the plates are in such good nick. Maybe one day! Boo, How long has it been out of rego for? If the rego has been expired for under two months there is grace period. With the ae71 I wanted to retain the old plates even though the car was out of rego for just under two months and was able to do so provided I got a rwc within that two month time frame. So in effect once the rwc is done, you are preety much just re newing the rego, as opposed to re regestering it from scratch. Edited June 11, 2010 by "The Mint KE70" Quote
Ben-89 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 4 years :( Ohh I can understand, just do the easier option and transfer the plates from the mustard hardtop onto this. :) Quote
Bamboo Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 Quick update. I finally got the cooling system sorted. I got the water pump, thermostat, radiator and all the hoses. I got it up to operating temperature, and realised the rear welch plug is leaking and.........the engine is a little RINGY! I was setting the tune and noticed big puffs of blue smoke on every rev up. SHIT. No RWC next weekend. I've got an unknown 3k, so I've pulled out the shitty one and will get the new one layed in tomorrow. Hope it works Quote

Bamboo Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 Well this is it, after dicking around with engines for two weekends, I now have a 4k powered humpback. Painted my favourite engine colour, Chevy orange. I also have some XX rims on loan which I quite like. I like stockies, and they seem to suit the car. RWC next week and it'll hit the road, ready for the next cruise! I also got around to decoding my car. No surprises really. K E 5 0 Right hand drive Liftback Manual (5speed) Deluxe Q- Australian Market Silver with a black interior and a 4.3 diff. As I said, no surprises. Quote
