xmoht Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 So are you asking how to do it or prices for someone else to do it? If by prices you mean cost of materials then someone can probably give you an estimate. Doing it can be done using rust converter, or cutting out the rust and welding in new pieces. Then priming it and painting it. Quote
t18drifts Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 i dnt own a welder and don't no anyone that does so yeh any one no what it would cost to get someone else to do it ;) Quote
ke70dave Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 haha another quality thread! (pun intended taz) do yourself a favour and go and talk to a panel beater. you know...actually drive the car to them, and show them the rust. You have included no pictures or details on the rust. how on earth are we supposed to be able to help you?;) Quote
blktoy35 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 sticky tape and bog.... jk cutting and welding will be required... and wont be cheap at a workshop....best get a quote as mentioned! Quote

ke70dave Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) c'mon mate make an effort! that was close to impossible to read, i think it went something like this... I would have put pics up, but i don't have a pc, i do everything from my phone. So i have one hole above the right tail light and along the bottom of the windows. Yeh i havnt had time to take my car to a panel beater, but i live on the out skirts of an industrial (estate?) anyways, so i have plenty to choose from lol. Just posting to get the great rolla club advice. and since you have plenty of panel beaters to choose from, my advice is to go and talk to one of them:P oh and if you are refering to the rear windows, that going to require some nice welding. xmoht Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 yeah my bad with the effort part Soo what amount of moneys will i have to spend if any one knows or has a little bit of an idea cuz i wont beable to get a proper qoute for awhile :@ Is the rust near the window the size of a five cent piece and is surface rust, or is it thirty centimeters long and a whopping great hole? It could take someone five minutes or two hours. That's why nobody can give you an estimate. Quote
ke70dave Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 maybe we can try another strategy..... we will post pics and you say "better" or "worse". ill start. Quote
xmoht Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 If it's as bad as ke70dave's T18 just get a banner that says Motorfix and stick it to the windscreen. It's a lot cheaper, easier and people will praise you for your amazing style. Quote
t18drifts Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 not that bad its just along the top just under the windows and the previous owner thought of the sticker idea already it covering the hole at the back and I'm to scared to take it of i might die lol  Quote
ke70dave Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Well if you are serious about fixing the rust, I suggest you rip that sticker off, scratch the hell out of the rust with a wire brush, and drown it in rust converter. Do that a few times....untill there is no brown rust left. then give it coat of primer paint at least. this is by no means a fix, but it will slow the rust down, or may even stop it going any further untill you are able to get it fixed properly. once you have done this, and if there is still a hole, then maybe put a sticker back on, so that no water gets inside your car. but keep in mind this is not a proper fix.
