Hi there Bamboo,

For your own sakes its a damn good thing you are not starting a war! I advise you not to give advise on carburettors.

For anyone else wondering if either of us knows anything at all then I suggest you get your hands on (pay for or borrow from the library)one of the many great holley carb books available. I strongly suggest staying clear of free 'facts' off the internet as everyone has bucketloads of them as you can see here!

Cheers,

Jason

Yep... Way to big. And not from any books either but from experience.

It will run, probably get acceptable results but will never be as good as it should be, boost or not. With a 650 on a four pot it will have shithouse air speed down low giving you terrible throttle response and possible fuel puddling. It would however sing once on boost and up in the rev range!

A 650 was to big for my slant six to be a nice driver, I made more power and had better drivability with a 390 and a 465. The 390 being the best all round. And that engines about twice the size of any early Toyota 4.

yeah anyways back on topic lol so it would get a bit more power from the stock if i put the xf one on it also what is the cheapest twin side drafts on the market :hmm: cuz obviously i can't get a away with twin downs :( it would have been awsome though

stick on it will go like shit UNTILL you tune it. your std carby will prob just aswell if you play with the jets and make it run ace!

If you just put the xf carby on it will run like shit in till it is jetted properly.

Cheapest you could probably get twins for would depend on wether you want used ones that you can rebuild or if you are going to buy ones that have already been rebuilt or if you go brand new, price varies for used but I got my setup for my 3t the manifold cost $120 delivered from the states (do not buy a cannon manifold from the states as they are a pain in the ass to put everything in because they are so long) The linkages cost $100 and the trumpets and filter socks cost about another $150 so thats already $370 and haven't even bought the carbs yet, which you can get from redline brand new, but if your looking to get everything new you won't have much change from $1000 if not have to spend more.

Also then if you are going twin carbs it will make a difference but what would go even better with the twin carbs would be a bit of other work to the engine as well.

hmm yeh so how do u re jet carbs i see it spoken about on rollaclub but not sure excactly how its done is it just changing the size of the jets them selves ???

pretty much, not sure of the best way to find out what size jets you would need, but with the weber on my 3t I am just going to eventually take it to a dyno and get it done properly.

your better off going for something proven....rather than a carby that you just happen to have "lying around".

go for a webber or something that has parts easily available.

changing jets for a carby that has available parts is as easy as ordering the new part, swapping it over and seeing how it goes.

the problem is choosing which jets to run......the specifics of this are out of the scope of my knowledge. but its not easy, and from your posts t18drifts i don't think you would have the ability/knowledge (no offence).

so your best off taking it to a tuner and get them to figure it out. keep in mind this will problably cost you alot more than the webber itself.

now having said that, just bunging on a webber onto your stock as a rock 3t probably wont yeild the best results (you will get gains). and you don't want to be spending alot of money at the tuners for not alot of gain.

get yourself a camshaft, some extractors a nice exhaust, then get your carby tuned.

true true so true :D hmm when i get my next car the t18 will be kept for the track for drifting so its gonna eventualy have a fair bit done to it :rolls: towards the end of this year once i get my license
