Redwarf Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Doh! Welcome to the world of fuel comsumption! :( Quote
Tiger Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Nice work there dude :( It'd boogie for sure... but with fun comes a price unfortunately.. and that would be the juice in this instance. Kangaroosa is in the same boat as you also. hahaha Quote
corolla_bitten Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 yeah but it is soooo worth it Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 nah SUs can be good on fuel. i noticed no difference in consumtion from aisan singlecarb to twin SUs, you use less fuel because there's more torque down low, and no accelerator pump, and more fuel cos you can ring the tits off it and there's sufficient air to make big powah :( Quote
Teddy Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 oooo a new friend ! ! So cool :) ! Yes, i too have found that side drafts make a difference to ye old K motor :( Quote
Felix Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 any decent carb makes a difference, so long as the motor needs it. my DCD weber died on my 5k. so i went back to a stock aisan for a bit. the thing lost a good 20% or more powerwise. it is only neck and neck with a new v6 commodore up to 100 now. sad. sob Quote
rjenman Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 noob question: what's the difference between sidedraught and SU and what does SU stand for? Quote
Teddy Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Side draft is like down draft, its only the type of carburation, (down / side ) where as Side drafts is more like a slang term for the side draft carburetors, what ever they may be - Solex's, Delorto's, Webers.. SU stands for Skinners Union. Long story short, its just a different type of carburetor. Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 downdrafts and sidedrafts work on venturis and jets to meter fuel based on air vacuum conditions an SU has a sliding piston which effectively changes the venturi size, and as the pistons moves, it moves a tapered needle in and out of a jet to meter fuel personally i consider SUs superior in every way to downdrafts and sidedrafts Quote
