B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Ok so I had a play trying to sort my ignition problems. Swapped in the Falcon battery, same issue. Noticed there was an arcing/clicking noise and found it was arcing on the coil where I had hooked up the tacho in my engine bay. (clarification i had an after market tacho off the coil for giggles, I have the dash running off the neg side) Took that off, but it is still arcing from the positive side of the coil to the coil-dizzy lead base. Whenever i get it started and its idling and I rev it the oil light flicks on as I rev it. Any ideas? Edited August 14, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
ke70dave Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 id be measuring the resistance of the 2 coils. therse a spec for it, and if its out of spec it goes in the bin. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 I'm tempted to just replace them. I'm sure that arcing isnt a good sign. I had a spare but bugger me if I can find it. Quote
Willis Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I was all over it in mid the mid 00's, and then the flat cappin dead beats rolled in. So it's a generational thing then? And we've already had the flatcapping dead beat discussion before... Reed, it's okay to not like it but to be "anti drift" seems kinda bleak doesn't it? *waits for Reed to inform me of my hypocrisy and mention "hip hop"* Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 I'm not getting into this in my rides thread. I'm more worried about getting my car to work properly. Quote
Trev Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) What reed said. Edited August 14, 2012 by Trev Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 And with that the conversation is over in my ride thread. Unless anyone can help with my ignition issues take it to Off Topic. Quote
ke70dave Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_ignition.html i'd give it a measure on your multi meter, talks about coil resistance in that link. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 Your coil should have insulation on the ignition lead where it exits the coil. So either the main lead is stuffed, or you need to run the little boot that they normally come with over the end of the coil. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 Bought a new coil hopefully it'll come with the boot Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) Ok so this just isnt even funny. I got my center muffler fixed yesterday and was backing in to the garage tonight and heard a loud scrape noise. ALL CAPS RAGE! Me and the muffler guy were even discussing that the weld was a bit ugly. On the plus side, nom nom nom, stainless weather shields. Edited August 15, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 Not a fan of dragway style wheels, or any 4 spokers in general. I want a set of Diamond Racing Steelies. Quote
