Alright guys, I'm sure there's millions of these threads but I'm on iPhone and it'll take a rediculous amount of time so here we are.

I know you can use the crow find a cam thing but I'd have know idea what it's like to live with.

So, rebuilding the 5k to put in my ke10, k50 gearbox and possibly ke55 diff.

Minimal head besides a skim, 32/36, extractors, dished piston motor.

Looking for a bit more mid range pull and maybe a little more top end, nothing huge as I was planning to keep factory head gear and hydro litters as I wasnt sure if my datsun/ Chev combo works with the 5k head height.

So yeah, any suggestions are greatly appreciated especially if you can tell me how it goes what it's like to live with etc.

Cheers! Jono

Used a Wade 169 grind from memory. Stock compression 5K with extractors and factory twins. Nice drivable cam with a good mid range and would wind out to over 7500rpm easily :)

Wade 169 specs, a 41/70 cam, 291 duration.

Lift (at lobe) - 0.269"

Ex opens - 75deg closes 36deg

Inlet opens - 41deg closes 70deg

I'm using a Crow 606 on twin inch&1/4 SUs, a 26/64 cam, 270deg duration.

Lobe lift 0.264

Ex 66-24

Inlet 26-64

Its pretty mild, lumpy idle but not flying over 6000rpm. I wanted mid-range more than topend, which it does very well.

Putting a cam from a 1300cc into a 1500cc will move the power down, so you can go for something wilder than you would in a 4K.

I going the other way. Runa big cam and loads of comp. keep stock lifters just upgrade springs. I had no problem with mine as a daily and it sounded like a p51 buzzing the tower at full noise.

everyone says big cams a pig. what a croc! my cam kicks in at 3500rpm and after every gearchange I'm in my cam range

with some clutch slipping and revving, and don't even mention trying to start on a steep hill... :laff:

Ther was a forest stage that started on a steep uphill, maybe 20M up from the bottom of a gully. We were first privateers so got to watch the factory Escorts/Stanzas/Toyotas trying to get close-ratio high first gear cars off the line and up the hill. Most hit the clutch three times in first gear to get it up on the cam!

I figure he'll get a couple of grand for the cam, there's nothing else like that!

Only just got to reading this, Cheers for the replies.

Any other suggested grinds? As i said i don't want to go too large as i don't want to do any headwork as yet.

Also, am i able to use to my chev/datsun lifter and pushrod combo with the 5k head?
