Jason Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Ive got what i think to be 4 flywheel bolts for my 4age (need 8), but I'm not quite sure. What other egnine use the same bolts as the 4age so i can get them. Or do any one have any they would like to sell to me. Need them asap for engine balence. Thanks Jason Quote
Rolla Boy Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I wouldn't mix and match bolts from other models due to strength ratings... Order new ones from Toyota... Quote
love ke70 Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 would probably be quicker to order them new aswell Quote
irokin Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 ARP make 4A-GE flywheel bolts... :P Quote
Jason Posted January 14, 2006 Author Report Posted January 14, 2006 what would be cheaper and or faster? Were do i order through toyota? Quote
kangaroosa Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 Are they a special type of bolt? If not - Can you just go to your local "Nut and Bolt Place" and grab some Hi-Tensile Bolts. Thats all i did on my 5K. Along with some some Spring washers and some Loctite. Quote
Jason Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 Yah teddy ordered me some through toyota for $3 a peice :y: Quote
irokin Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Gotta be happy with that. I payed $9 each for a M18 bolt once :y: never again. Quote
muller Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Gotta be happy with that. I payed $9 each for a M18 bolt once :P never again. holy shit. they wanna be prety good for that. just gonna say, don't skimp on quality though cause a flywheel kinda needs to be pretty secure :y: have heard horror stories about them coming up through the trans tunnel. :P Quote
Teddy Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 ahaha yes, i have heard one of those stories too... something about a mini's flywheel coming off, and missing the passenger by a bee's dick :y: Quote
irokin Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 http://www.exvitermini.com/pics/getrgo1.jpg clutch failure on a Getrag R34 6spd = not cheap Mind you it was making a bit more power than standard. (not GTR700 btw) I have a suspicion that the whole "flywheel coming through the floor pan" thing is a bit of a myth unless your making LOADS of power. The only other way I recon it could happen was if you had a simultanious failure of the input shaft, clutch and flywheel bolts. When you think about it if the flywheel bolts fail youve still got the clutch attached which will still hold onto the input shaft (which, in my case still rests in the end of the crank not the flywheel). Yes its still a fairly major failure but I don't see it flying through an alloy bellhousing with big enough hole to still have enough energy to slice through the firewall. Quote
Rolla Boy Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I have a nice pic somewhere of an RX3 from NZ... Flywheel sized hole in the bellhousing and bonnet... Not to mention rest of the engine bay being destroyed... Quote
