Ke30 2 Door Sedan Project. Check It Out!

This is my Ke30 2 door sedan, its my project been working on it for about a month now.

i live in melbourne, Found this little beauty out in the country in victoria, called the guy got all the info and fell in love with it.

so i borrowed a mates tandem trailer for a day and went and picked it up,

Been a money pit like all old cars but its a passion as you all know,

When i got it had a 3K and it wasn't running, missing some basic parts such as starter motor and battery.

Pieced it all together to find there was a knock in the engine, as its common for 3K's to crack pistons i found a 4K for a good price and spent a day putting that in with new oil and filter, air filter, plugs, leads and dizzy.

runs great, nice quiet smooth engine.

I'm looking for a 5k which i will put on the stand at home and work into a hot little engine while i run the 4K, and when its ready swap it out.

it currently has a 4 speed manual in it which will stay as long as i have the 4k, I'm working on finding a 5 speed to go with the 5K

Brakes where quite average,so i Replaced the front callipers, the rear brake cylinders, brake master Cylinder , now it stops well.

It was then running quite well so it was time for suspension.

its got stock struts with king spring super low springs in the front and in the back i got the leafs reset lower to match.

I have done minimal body work yet as it is quite straight for an original car,

i bought a new beaver panel for it and a new rear bumper for it.

i have a Hz kingswood which is a project in which i don't see getting done so that will pay for the body and paint to be done (Yes the bonnet will be matched )

Probably leave it this colour, if not it would be a nice almost candy red or blue.

i was lucky enough to come up with a set of Ke55 xx wheels for it, i love the look of period wheels.

fat tires on the back thin tires on front.

I have a set of red and white, White wall inserts for it but I'm not sure whether i want to use them or not any more.

opinions would be appreciated, keep in mind the wheels have red trim and it will have red plates.

The interior is very very clean and straight no tears in the seats, and the carpet is good.

only problem as all corollas it has a cracked dash which i think will be the hardest thing to find.

i also found a centre console for it which looks great.

after i bought the car i joined the Toyota car club of australia, went carless to a few of there meets and was happily welcomed and treated friendly by all.

if it wasn't for some of the people i have met and spoken too i wouldn't have been able to source some of theses parts and gotten some amazing advice and suggestions.

borrowed a trade plate off a mate over the weekend and drove it to the toyota winterfest, was great to have my car along side some beautiful other toyotas, was stoked to have the only 2 door ke30 :)

i then took it for a drive throughout the mountains that arvo (on the road) , its a little rocket, the 4k goes really well surprisingly, and the car handles really really well, super stiff and sharp.

can't wait to get some camber on the front and new tires.

while i was up the mountains found a nice little spot for some photos

Big thanks to all the people here and of TCCAV who have been amazing and helped me out with this car,

there will be more photos to come as the project advanced,

hope you guys enjoyed

Mate, love the front end and just how each bit seems to tie into the next part.

The chrome trim on the leading edge of the bonnet, the chrome trim around the lights and the chrome bumper bar act a bit like a border around the black grill.

The black lower panel, the black grill and the black bonnet all act like one big bold stripe.

Depending on how bad the cracks are on the dashpad, a dash carpet will generally hide the cracks and protect it from further cracking.

One way to get some camber into the front is ke70 struts and camber tops. The springs on the ke70 struts are narrower then the ke30's.

yea it docent look too bad, but i still want it all the same colour,

i am very fast running out of money, when i got it i will buy a dash mat,

for the camber, the ke70 struts would be good,

I've heard of people getting there LCA's bent, i might look into that first

Do what i did with my old '30 - and use a dark towel.

I made the mistake of using a bright colourful one (white, yellow, green, etc) and it reflected in the windscreen.
