1975 Ke20 1200 Hi-Deluxe Restoration

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone and i found this great site and thought to share my work with you....

And here is my recent project....

i got this 1975 toyota corolla ke20 Hi-Deluxe from my next town

it was in a pretty neutral condition(not perfect and not bad)

nothing was damaged, all were protected by the two owners before........thank god

here's how it was sitting just before i buy

and got some items for it

DSC01904.jpg

and the boot emblem which was made by my hands......... ha ha it came better than i thought

DSC02026.jpg

and my hand made led kit for rear license plate lights

DSC02040.jpg

bought a center console clock ........ before it came there was a big hole in it

DSC02037.jpg

more rust on front

Image0234.png

repaired like this

Image0236.png

also the front bonnet trim was rusted out so i made it with brass

Image0240.png

Image0248.png

and the front lower guard is rebuilt (in sl it is called the dog guard....... lol :harhar: )

Image0253.png

the original mud guard flares were rusted out, so rebuilt them with aluminium sheet

Image0246-1.png

Image0245-1.png

then got a hot bath after 37 years of its age(heater blower)

there was a bunch of leaves inside the unit......... :lolcry: :lolcry:

DSC02061.jpg

and now........................ more rust inside the dash

Image0257.png

Image0256.png

and that's the improvement for today................. i think it will be dead all the rust in couple more days

after that it will be getting her hot paint on it............

but i'm still finding the original color code of it

if anyone knows it please let me know........ all i know is................ it's blue in color :lolcry: :lolcry: :lolcry:

so that's all for now.......... will update soon

hope you enjoy.......... :y: :y: :y:

Awesome effort!

Is that Chrome trim around the top of the bootlid? And who remakes their own bonnet trim!!

And that console would be worth heaps over here.

thanks for the comment and thanks to you i have found also the location for the heater hoses.......... :y: :y: :y:

yeh the chrome trim attaches to the boot lid via bolts....... they came with the hi-deluxe model and not in deluxe s.

Ha Ha i search everywhere for a bonnet trim but........unlucky ;)

so i thought to do it myself............

i found a same model ke20 from our area and it was also in a restoration.......... so i went there and took some photos of the trim

then did some drawings to illustrate the bends and shape

then got some brass sheet, bent them as i want and at last took the pieces to a welder to weld them up..........and that's the thing i have done

Welome Asiri, this car has come so far in such a short time! Love the attention to detail you have put into this.

We never recieved the Hi Deluxe down in Australia so its a novelty seeing one like yours with original panelled dash and airconditioning and.... 4 doors!

This will be one very clean and unique Corolla when its done, so keep up the good work!

thanks a lot friends............. all your appreciations helps to keep my work better :y: :y: :y:

and here's my emblems which sits on the fenders........ but they have some kind of damage due to pop rivet

DSC02024.jpg

DSC02025.jpg

it is the main idiot thing done to an emblem......... they don't care about the little pins which on the back of the emblems.......

they just take a flat head screwdriver and blast it off.........urrrr i hate those people who damage emblems....... :storm:

another fun thing completed.....................my father always says Do It Yourself as much as possible

so i obey him and made this also

DSC02070.jpg

DSC02068.jpg

DSC02071.jpg

father bought me a rod of lead. :elvis:

took another one's emblem and got it's mold into ( i don't know what it is called, the bricks are made out of it) ;)

let it for a complete air dry

fire up my blow lamp , melt the rod and paw into the mold ( first time didn't came good just ugly) :scarymovie:

so took the mold to a father's friend who works in radiator repair center and got his help :osama:

he paw it pretty nicely and a little sand work made it look like now :y:

I'm loving this thread. Most of us (me included) would just look for a replacement part. I'm hugely impressed not just with your effort, but the results.

Can't wait to see the end result.

Asiri !!!! i am absolutely blown away by your build !!!

Firstly a great base, woodgrain, aircon, 4 doors. Just perfect.

Secondly your fabrication work is fantastic !

You are clearly a skilled hard worker with an eye for the details.

Keep it up, i look forward to following this build.

Cheers, Scott.
