NinjaMekanik Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) I was doing ablog but i decided to can that and put it here where it shoudl be.... Hey alll. Ive had this car for a while and have been deciding weather or not to spend time and money on it when i have a silvia that is already pretty quick. Ive finally decided to give it a crack and see how i go. Started with: 4k-c 4speed manual noisy as hell diff and gearbox electronic fuel pump Planning to build a car that will be good for motorkhanas and maybe khanacross see how it goes Gonna stick with 4k, mostly just recondition everything nothing too crazy. Mayb cam grind Have a set of extractors to fit - DONE 2" system from extractors to back - DONE Weber 32/36 - DONE Gonna run sigma LCA's - DONE Coil over sleeves at this stage standard brakes reset rear springs minor body work (not tooo concerned on making it look schmik as but that might change later) strip interior - DONE hydro handbrake - DONE welded diff - DONE k50 gearbox - DONE Modified S13 front strut brace fitted Edited March 1, 2013 by NinjaMekanik Quote
NinjaMekanik Posted October 5, 2012 Author Report Posted October 5, 2012 Removed front Chrome bumper Started off by taking off the chrome bumpers, this led to having to put the lights somewhere, which led to modifying the lights, which led to wrecking the red paint from welding brackets on, which led to painting the front grille section... so for a build where i didnt want to bother with to much bodywork i did a fair bit of mucking around getting it all to fit. Turned out ok though so here are some pics. Also took this oportunity to take a couple pics of the engine bay. Quote
NinjaMekanik Posted October 5, 2012 Author Report Posted October 5, 2012 Fitting GB Sigma LCAS Picked up a set of GB sigma LCAs from a mate who has a GB which he has modded to a pretty sweet motorkhana rig. I pulled one side off the KE and had a look. They were definately longer by about 20mm. I had to make a few modifications to them but i was expecting to. The hole for the sway bar was too far out on the sigman LCAs so i had to drill another hole otherwise the sway bar link wouldve been sitting at about 45 degrees . Also the inside bush was too fat to squeeze in so i had to grind that down to fit in its home. The ball join on the sigma control arms was different too so i couldnt us the castle nut which came off the corolla. I had some nuts lying around that fit so i just used them. After that it was just a matter of reasembling the suspension. Since the lower ball joint was further out it had made a chronic case of toe out so i did a quick to adjustment by eye ready to go for a proper wheel alignment. I'm still wanting to fit coil over sleeves so i think ill wait till ive done them and then ill get the W/A done after that. Here is a couple of pics of Before and After the LCA change. Sorry i have no camber specs atm but when i get the W/A done ill try to get a print out so i can put up the camber spec afthe the LCA change. Quote
