Andy43 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Hi Has anyone attempted to change the frontend roll centre by installing a spacer between ball joint bracket and the strut ? Thanks Andy Quote
luk3333 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 You can get some spacers from technotoytuning.com i think Quote
wagn Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 yeah i put the techno toy tuning ones in my ke20 when i lowered it Quote
rian Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Pretty sure AJPS make them in a couple of bolt spacings and heights as well. I have them under my AE86 struts. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 The lower you go the thicker you need. T3 are 30 or 35 from memory, and ajps maybe 40 or 45? Quote
rian Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) ^T3 are 34mm, AJPS are 40mm (with the option of 50mm for AE86 struts only). Edited May 22, 2013 by rian Quote
GJM85 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Looks like something I should be putting then ke20. It's 55mm lower in the front, so how would i work out what size I need? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) Jack up the car from the LCA where it bolts to the chassis. Measure how much you have to jack it for the LCA to be back at stock geometry. Not sure who makes them besides T3 for KE20 so you might just be stuck with whatever they have. Better than nothing, I have the standard T3 ones in my 70 and they work fine. Edited May 22, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 You'd have to guess that there is a pretty close correlation between lowered distance and RCA height. ANd that there is a maximum size. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Found this pretty sweet write up about them. Seems that you are not correcting the roll center to stock, but just raising it above a certain point to bring it closer to the cars center of mass. http://www.meganracing.com/tech/faqs.asp?id=106&subject=Suspension:%20%20What%20are%20Roll%20Center%20Adjusters Quote
GJM85 Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 I did my best at measuring up my front end. I either got it wrong or this is the reason my car likes to wander with the camber of the road. Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 That LCA line is pretty steep Gav- It looks like I'd expect the rally car to look like. Maybe I'll have a look at this, we've got the ride height sorted and the handling is fine, but its a bit scary drifting in 4th gear he reckons... rolls a lot. Quote
GJM85 Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Yeah i mixed up the control arm heights. Heres the ammended version. Also where i estimate it to be with 35mm rca's. Quote
GJM85 Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Notice how the "virtual reaction point" moves to the opposite side of the car. I'm guessing its a good thing. Quote
