Wow! Cannot wait to see you driving this around here in SA. How are you going about getting it complied? Oh and just to warn you, if you want to be waiting another 6 weeks to see your car once it finished, use Auto Trans to transport it. Absolutely pathetic!! My car arrived with bonus dents and scratches as well. :hmm:

Ahhh serious auto trans not so good? I've used them twice so far, once with my ke25 which rocked up with the rear brakes locking up every time i went over a bump (i think they wrapped a chain or something around the diff and wrecked the cable). The second time i got my g/f's 97 corolla sent down and that time it was all fine, took 5 days and was cheap. Now i'm thinking i may try someone else, any recomendations?

Regarding compliance, not sure how that's going to go. I've spoken to SA transport a number of times and asked what i have to do when i bring the car down here. They told me each time that all i have to do is transfer the rego from QLD to SA rego, and they said it doesn't even need to go over the pits. I explained that it's been engineered in QLD and they just said it should be fine then. So not sure what's gonna happen until i get it down here.

well done, i love your choice of wheels.

you may be able to have a run against my old car - which is now in Adelaide as of today. look out for a green ke20 with saab chasers.

the new owner used Patricks to transport the car, not sure if i'd be that happy with them. i had to go back out to get it started after they ran the battery flat twice trying to start it and completely flooded it. Wierd as i've never had a problem starting the car, maybe they thought it was carby and pumped the shit out of the loud pedal.

looks good dude.

bay nice and neat.

is the air filter cut into the side of the engine bay? Get better flow?

Yeah air filter is cut into side of engine bay. It's going into the qtr panel so i imagine the heat inside there would be less than that of the engine bay, also i think there might be some venturi effect thing going on so it would pull the cooler air from inside the qtr panel to compensate for any warm air from the engine bay (could be wrong,i started work at 5am and brain is a little fuzzy) . Didn't know that my mechanic had done it till i saw it, he reckons it should be worth it and it looks cool

Jono i was having a look at your car when you were selling it, was damn nice. Not sure how quick mine will be, but these days i drive a ford escort panel van so i reckon it'll feel damn fast to me. Has been 4 years since i've driven a fast car. I'll have to baby it to start off with as i doubt the diff will hold up for very long, so will have to save up more money to get a custom diff, i plan to use a F series out of a tarago and have it shortened to suit.

You need to submit an intention to modify to Transport SA as well as the reports from your engineer, they will then mail you a statement or requirements to have the car registered in SA. The car will need to go to regency for a full roadworthy before they will register it. Also add Patrick Auto Frieght on the list of companies to avoid. I won't go into the details but lets just say I recieved less than average service from them.

Oh and if you are wondering, I now own the green car with saab chasers! :hmm: And loving it!

I spoke to SA transport yesterday and was told that because the car is being registered in SA under the same name and as long as the car is RWC and complied according to QLD standards that it won't be a problem. As long as there is some proof of compliance in QLD which i've got the QLD compliance plates stamped in the engine bay. So i've been assured that it won't need to be checked out or engineered down here.

Ahhh... too easy then... :hmm: Do yourself a favour and keep a copy of your engineers reports in the car at all times, I've been driving my car for three days and already had a "discussion" with the boys in blue @ an RBT last night.

Any updates?

Ceva transport are a good company to call. There's also an agency that will find the best priced deal for you from all companies in Australia. I'll try to remember who they are. Spoke to them when I was threatening Auto Trans and they gave me a list of prices and companies so that I could pick one. Auto Trans also put dents in my bonnet- small but dents nevertheless. Now I'm fighting a claim. :D

nah no real updates atm, currently waiting on a reconditioned vh44 remote brake booster from victoria. For anyone who is looking for such an item the place is called Hydroboost, they have been in buisness for over 60 years and were over 100 bucks cheaper than anyone else.

Also thanks to some extra dosh that just came my way i'll be able to afford to get the diff done straight away once it's down here WOOT.

Regarding the car transport stuff, a mate from work told me about a site called www.movingcars.com.au, they quoted me $546.42 for brisbane depot to adelaide depot which is very good i reckon.

annoying update. I was starting to get all excited because my mechanic believed he would easily have the car done and ready to go on a truck down to Adelaide. So in preparation i decided to find the rego sticker etc and just have it handy for when it comes down, fortunately i noticed that the engine number looked odd. I was expecting a 4A-....... but instead the engine number says 2T :) so i rang qld transport because i remember that the pain in the arse mechanic was meant to take the car to qld transport to get inspected and hence engine number change, but alas he hasn't (no real surprise but just another thing to add the list of reasons i hate that guy). So now i've got to wait till i go up to QLD with my g/f over christmas and change the engine number then. So now at the earliest the car will be here first week or two of January.
