irokin Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Ive been thinking of this one for a while (i.e. probably over a year now lol). Prices would have to be confirmed cose to the date but I imagine it being between $50-70 for a few runs. The location would have to be sorted out exactly but It will be in the greater Brisbane area most likely somewhere north of the river. I envisage it being run with prizes for the following classes: Wooden spoon - Lowest maximum output of any motor on its best power run Toyotas with a capacity under 1.6L N/A (3Ks, 4Ks, 5Ks, 4E, etc) Toyotas with a capacity 1.6L and over but under 1.9L N/A (7Ks, 4As, 2Ts, 3Ts, etc) Toyotas with a capacity 2.0L and over 4 cylinders N/A (2S, 3S, 18R, 22R etc) Toyota Unlimited category (Turbo 6s, V8s) Toyotas with a capacity under 1.6L Forced induction Toyotas with a capacity Over 1.6L Forced induction (4 cyl only) Others Capacity Under 2 Litres N/A Capacity Over 2 Liters N/A Capacity Under 2 Litres F/I Capacity Over 2 Litres Forced Induction (4 cylinder only) Unlimited Category (Forced Induction 6 cylindners, V8, V10, V12, W16?) Other rules * NO nitrous oxide with other power adders (supercharger, turbocharger). Nitrous oxide by itself is fine (provided the dyno provider allows it). * Nitrous oxide will be considered a form of forced induction. * Toyota refers to the engine make, so a Nissan with a Toyota motor would compete in the toyota category. Conversely a Toyota with a Nissan motor would compete in the 'Other' category. * Engine capacities are rounded up to the nearest 100ml e.g. An SR20 is 1998cc and will compete as 2 litres. A 5K is 1496cc and will compete as 1.5 litres. Others to come as I think of them. Alternatively a fun way to run it would be with a bracket system example 0 to 50hp 51 to 100hp 100 to 200hp 201 to 300hp 301 to 400hp 500 to unlimited The person with the highest output in their bracket, without going over the maximum power for that bracket wins. All forced induction, normally/naturally aspirated, cylinder configurations and motor makes would be grouped together. You _may_ perhaps get one power run to see what your maximum output is, then have the chance to make a few ajustments to either get MORE or LESS power before you do perhaps a pair of recorded power runs with the highest output recorded. Let me know what think. We would probably need a minimum of 20 - 30 which I'm sure we could get if we invite our non-toyota buddys. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I went to a Performanceforums dyno day a few years back with Fook, I can highly recommend redcliffe dyno! That said, I'll be up for another dyno run.. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 should be fun :lolcry: id be in. but i think your gonna stick me in the open category :) Quote
irokin Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 Yea there are a few issues with the categorys. Its hard to make it as fair as possible for all sorts of different engine configurations without having too many classes. I'm starting to like the idea of the sliding scale. But it has issues too. Any comments on the classes or ideas on how to run the day welcome. I'll try to get on to Redcliffe dyno soonish to get a rough idea on what kind of prices we're looking at... Quote
love ke70 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 i don't like the sliding scale. coz u get punished for breaking a magic number, if you know what i mean... i think the setup you have is actually quite good. however don't limit the sections to both capacity and cylinder numbers. maybe have something like... Toyotas with a capacity under 1.6L N/A (3Ks, 4Ks, 5Ks, 4E, etc) Toyotas with a capacity 1.6L and over but under 1.9L N/A (7Ks, 4As, 2Ts, 3Ts, etc) Toyotas with a capacity 2.0L and over 4 cylinders N/A (2S, 3S, 18R, 22R etc) Toyotas with a capacity under 2L Forced induction Toyotas with a capacity Over 2L Forced induction so you lose the open category and replace it with a F/I greater than 2L, and the N/A greater than 2 litre along with the F/I under 2 litre just a suggestion. if you don't like it feels free to shove a sock down my throat :) Quote
irokin Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 The problem with having Toyotas with a capacity Over 2L Forced induction is that you then include the 3 litre 2JZ-GTE which is more than capable of making 800hp on a standard bottom end. I'm starting to think maybe we should wait to see what kind of cars we have coming before making up categorys. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 but u include that in the open class anyway. you have the small forceded and the big boys. your call tho :) :lolcry: I'm sure ill win the wooden spoon with my 4k anyway haha keep us posted :hmm: Quote
Teddy Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 ahaha yeah wtf, ill chuck my old pig on the rollers, and see what she spits out ! Count me in :) Quote

I'm sorta aiming for midyear to get my juckyarder ready for the test and tune and the track day if it ever happens. So yair thats it from me. However i would like too add that the dyno should be in the northside somewhere. Lets face it... the HOME of rollaclub or for one friendly moderator atleast :) Quote
love ke70 Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 biggo is prohibited from bringing his friend with a skyline. :P Quote
