well on my new project ( 1982 ke70 ) the tail lights bulb casing were all brittle and fell apart, so i went and bought both brand new lights etc.

these have been installed and the drivers side set work fine, but ghosts in the machine are making the LHS set do strange things.

when the left indicator is turned on the brake lights flash

when the brakes are put on the reverse light comes on

and when you put it in reverse the indicator comes on

so theres power etc getting through it's just not putting the right light on at the right time.

the plugs can only be inserted 1 way so thats right, any ideas on whats going on here? :jealous:

thanks in advance

well the obvios answer would be that you have put the wrong globes into the wrong holes, so you have put the indicator globe into the brake insert, you have put the brake globe into the reverse insert, and you have put the reverse globe into the indicator insert, but you say the plugs can only go in one way? interesting...

but have you put the bulbs into the wrong holes?

if they are in correct them they must be faulty, so take them back

I had an issue with wrongs bulbs in wrong sockets and it'd make my brake lights/indicators do strange things... this was in my KE55

Make sure the correct bulbs are in the correct sockets before doing anything like taking them back.

Sounds like either the wiring is connected incorrectly (in the plug itself, it seems), possibly someone has done a DIY on the plug wiring and put the pins back in the wrong way ie they looked at the wrong end when determining pin numbers etc

yeah they are brand new, the bulbs were in them already and the bulbs are in te right position ( the double filament bulb in the middle for parkers/brakes ) .

i tried using the old wiring set that i pulled out of it and it does the same thing :D

so now i'm even more confused, might have to take it to an auto electrician :jealous:

maybe just rewire the plug. not that hard if you have a multimeter.

the new light sounds like it isn't wired properly.

i'll get my dad to have a look at it first then, he's more electrically inclined and has all the gear etc, thanks for all the advice
