12die4 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 can someone tell me if this is possible to do before i go pulling them both apart??? thanks !! Quote
Raven Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Nope. You want KE30 Jap axles in a KE20 diff and then you'll have to shorten the axles 5mm each side if you want them to come out later on. Quote
bassy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 yes they will go in, just need to cut 5mm off the ke30 ones. bassy Quote
12die4 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 bassy do you mean the 55 ones will go in or are you just agreeing with the above post Quote
12die4 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 righto worked it out , now how do i tell if the car or diff is jap spec ?? Quote
irokin Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 righto worked it out , now how do i tell if the car or diff is jap spec ?? Borg warners have a plate on the back of the diff. Banjos ("jap spec") don't. Quote
Raven Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 (edited) *points up* What he said. Also, with a Jap diff, the centre unbolts from the front side of the diff. The borg warners unbolt from the back and as Irokin said, they have a backing plate. Jap diffs are better because you can swap a complete centre over without having to unbolt the crown wheel from the diff centre itself to keep the gear ratio's the same. Its just a matter of pulling out the old stuffed centre and bolting in the another one, providing you've removed the axles first of course. :( Edited September 26, 2006 by Raven Quote
12die4 Posted October 1, 2006 Author Report Posted October 1, 2006 what about ke36 pannel van japo diff axles are they the same as ke30 rolla ??? Quote
Junior Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I would say yes there the same as long as it is a jap diff. I have both a ke30 jap diff and a ke36 jap diff. Both the same length. Quote

Both the same length. obveously you'll still need to do the same mods as you would to KE30 axels to put them in a KE20 housing. Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 no, ke55 (borg warner) axles do not fit into ke20/30 (jap) diff yes, you can convert to later stud pattern in a ke20, but using ke30 axles and shortening them 5-6mm or so. IF you do this, you will need to use ke30 drums and backing plates on ke20 housing, as the axle flanges are different lengths between ke20 and ke30 you can also use the larger ke55 drums and backing plates, on a ke20 housing, with shortened ke30 axles in it Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 A little off topic, but is a ke25 diff identicle to a ke20?? And is the centre the same as the banjo centre found in a ke30?? thanks ;) I have searched this but its probably not on here as everyone probably already knows the answer(except me) :D Quote

KE25's all came out of the box with Jap (Banjo) diffs. KE20's came with both Jap and Borg Warner diffs. A center from a Jap 2X series will bolt into a Jap 3X housing. Cheers R Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Thanks, you nailed it. :D So is ke20 interchangeable to ke25, (Same mounts ect)??? Quote
