  1. If you don't need the car running asap and you have access to tools, Id check out the for sale section and ebay for a second hand engine. You could also use the WTB section here on rollaclub. A wreckers will be more expensive but I think you would at least get a 30 day warranty on an engine but I could be wrong. The first thing I do when I buy a different model corolla is buy a Gregory's service manual. I can then read threw the step by step process of whatever needs to be done when something goes wrong and assess whether Ive got the know-how and the tools to do the job properly myself. I don't know much about cars/engines but engine/gearbox/diff swaps in corolla's are very easy to do with the right tools. Rolla motors are easy to find and I wouldnt think it would be difficult to find a cheap decent motor for an AE92 (unless its a 4AGE that is). I have no income so usually for me its about getting the job done properly the cheapest way I can. Of course this usually involves more time and labor which I have plenty of and the good thing is I love rollas and I usually learn something new.
  2. "I don't think you've searched that hard. But anywhat" an assumption on your behalf. Many topics relating to corona/celica to corolla upgrades but not much info for someone wanting to run 13 inch rims. "i've said it more then the once" ??? Thank you for the info found this pic and added in a pic of my ke30 steering arm that I removed from the car and photographed today if its of any interest to anyone.
  3. Ive searched but I havent found a straight up answer to my question. first up I'm putting a bigport stock 4AGE into a KE30. I want to register the thing, it will be a daily driver, not for drift/burnouts nor huge HP. I want to be able to keep my 13inch mags. Q1 - Will AE86 either jdm ar adm struts/hubs/calipers/discs and steering arms bolt straight onto my ke30? Q2 - if so can I simply use my ke30 steering arms? Q2 - Will this be ample braking for my needs as I was going to keep the rear brakes/drums stock? any info would be appreciated Jason
  4. WGMG: Dumb f**k drivers who drive at 80km/h on the freeway that can't read or understand a "keep left unless overtaking" sign.
  5. Yeah can you do that. I realized after posting it it was in the wrong place but I didnt know how to move or delete it Cheers
  6. Is there anyone in the Frankston/Dandenong or SE area of Melbourne whos got a 4AGE in there ke30/55 who wouldn't mind me having a look over there car and picking there brains about doing a conversion? cheers Jason
  7. It would be great to see a more in depth FAQ section. example = fuel systems. EFI complete step by step threw of how to install fuel pumps etc including relevant info on lines, suggested pump/lift pump part numbers or different pumps that could be used or not be used. Surge tanks, capacity, undercarriage and in boot installation, stocko 4age pump/fuel requirements, big HP 4AGZE/TE requirements etc. This info could be gathered from various members build threads and collated. don't take my request as being condescending or dumping s--t on the members that have submitted there tutorials as that is certainly not my intention. If it wasn't for everyone's build pages and input to the site, I wouldn't have learnt as much as I have. I'm also aware that this would be a time consuming process. When I'm done with my car and if I feel I could make a positive contribution to area's of the FAQ, I will if its wanted. For example when I put my 4AGE/T50 into KE30, Ill do autocad drawings and take photos for the engine mounts and gearbox xmember that I make if that's any help. The reason why I bring this up is because when using the search function I get alot of irrelevant posts that I need to sift threw usually not finding what I'm looking for. Also it would stop newbs like me asking what might seem as dumb questions that I'm sure the old timers around here must roll there eyes at cause the questions have been asked many times before. anywhoo's
  8. I thought I could use one of those blue plastic foot pumps you used to use to blow up a lilo at the beach. I was going to drill 2 holes threw the floor board so I could zip tye it next to the clutch and prime it that way. Seriously ive never seen a surge tank in the flesh let alone installed in a car. This is all new to me but I'm gettin there.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to get my head around it now and can see why Id need a lift pump. Another item added to the parts list. cheers
  10. First up sorry if this question has been asked a million times before. Ive been researching surge tanks/pumps etc and I have used the surge function here at rollaclub. I'm doin the usual 4age to ke30 thing. I want to use an undercar surge tank. My question is, do I need a lift pump? My understanding is that generally lift pumps are used to draw fuel out of the fueltank as the main efi fuel pump aint good at suck'n :blinks: . As we all know the fuel tank in a ke30 will be at a much higher potential to a surge tank and EFI pump bolted under the rear end of a KE30. Therefor (and I'm only assuming) the surge tank would be gravity fed fuel from the main tank. Ive read a little bit about surge setups here suge tank info Be kind or ill sik my vicious cat on yu.
  11. Well Ive ditched the idea. The AE71 cross member needs quite a bit of modification. For a start the AE71 cross member is something like 40-60mm wider then the ke30. The holes from lca to lca are an extra 60 - 80mm or so. Its not as easy as just re-drilling the holes either as there is bracing in the way that would need to be cut out and re-added/moved for strength. Also obviously the bolt holes that bolt the Xmember to the shazy need to be re-drilled (no biggy). There are a couple of other things that need to be done aswell but I'm hopeless at explaining stuff. If youve got access to an AE71 crossmember, compare the 2 and you will see what I mean. On top of that, I was hoping not to have to make engine mounts but even with all the work done to modify the x member, its probable that the motors wont sit where I want it to therefore id have to make engine mounts anyway. Obviously It can be done but I couldnt be bothered.
  12. Cheers, I was hoping there was a site out there like www.toyodiy.com. Sure will come in handy.
  13. got an AE71 cross member today. Does anyone know if the AE71 and ke70 steering racks are identical. Better still any where I can cross reference corolla parts by there part numbers.
  14. Yeah id love to have a crack at it. Ill be doing more research and Ill be talking with a mechanic friend this weekend and see what he thinks. Thank's for the replies
  15. Just curious to know if this has been done by others. AE71 engine crossmember with steering bolted into ke30/55? AE71 engine cossmember used in a ke30/55 as a base for power steering? I'm doing the usual 4age into a ke30. T50/stock diff lowered daily driver, not for drift burnouts etc. I want it to be a comfortable, easy/fun car to drive that the misses will like driving too. The thought of power steering has crossed my mind. I also have a complete AE82 twincam for parts. Also I have bigport trd copy extractors already and thought with a different steering set up, these extractors perhaps could be used because they wouldnt be fowling on the stock ke30 steering nuckle. Ridiculous idea? Thoughts?
  16. Hi olskool, any updates? Very nice build indeed. The pics are a great help, especially to a noob like me.
  17. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/s...0V-in-stock-now! I don't know if this is any help to you
  18. www.pickles.com.au Check out Esalvage on this site. I'm pretty sure the site is Australia wide.
  19. You may want to check out car auctions. I bought an AE82 for a half to a third of the price I would have paid on ebay. Some list there stock online and if you set up an account, you can be notified when the car of your choice comes along. This way you'll have a loom to work with, ecu and engine. Cost to do the conversion? no one could tell you. Cheapest way would be to buy a car already done.
  20. Thanks to those that offered advise. I bought a car today, payed $270. Motor's done 220k, seems ok. Will get a friend who's a mechanic to check it out. cheers Jason
  21. Here's the deal. I eventually want to put a 4age into my KE30. At present I'm just doing my research and keeping my eyes open for a bargain if one comes along. I want to do this once properly and be done with it. I'm not into burnouts/drift, I just want my car to have a bit of balls when needed, not die going up hills and be reliable enough to drive interstate doing 110km down the freeway without the thing reving its tits out. If it went as good as my stock ae101, Id be pretty stoked. I'm not interested in any other motor conversion, I'm pretty much set on the 4age. questions - would I see much difference in power between a bigport and a smallport in a ke30. I understand one is 'suppose' to be 88kw and the other 100kw. Obviously it would depend on Kms done, compression etc. Has anyone had both motors in there car to give me solid advise? Will a bigport be fine for my needs? Id run extractors, Id keep it efi but other than that Id probably leave the engine internals stock (unless the motor was tired and needed freshening up). Would go with a T50 and a stock rolla jap diff. I tried to do a search but I couldn't find a thread containing the relevant info.
  22. thanks Coln. If the jap diffs are stronger ill spend my money on bearings/etc instead for 1 of the 2 jap diffs I already have. I learn something new everyday here.
  23. Thanks for the info 'oh what a nissan feeling'. I will definitely be replacing rubbers/shocks.
  24. I have a ke30 2 door sedan with a jap diff. I was wanting to put a borg warner in it with stock rolla sway bar etc. I think its out of a ke55. Anyways to me the ke30 with the jap diffs seem a bit sloppy in the rear end. I think the ke30's ive had in the past with borg warner diffs seem to ride better. I know I'm going to have to drill holes for mounting the sway bar brackets that attach to the body. so here are my questions Are the leaf springs differant on the jap diffs compared to those on the Borg Warner? ( the later model KE's seem to have heavier leafs to me from memory) If so, will the later leaf springs fit in my 1975 ke30 2 door without modification to the car? Everything line up etc? Are the drive/tail shafts differant for the differant diffs? My intension is to take a borg warner diff/swaybar/leaf springs/driveshaft out of what I think is a ke55 and bolt it all in the 2 door. Do you think the car will ride better if I was to do this? Any feed back would be appreciated
