  1. Dunno, cable too short?
  2. Picked up a Datsun 120Y handbrake lever today: It's even got the handbrake warning light switch built in which I much prefer, than the silly plastic one in the Corolla (that I've broken). Measured everything up roughly, and it looks like it should all fit. Current plans are to bolt the Datto handbrake lever to the right and behind the Corolla one, and use that as the mechanical handbrake. Will probably reuse the bottom right bolt for the top right hole on the lever, and make a bracket out of 3mm plate steel for the bottom right hole. Handbrake cable will probably go through the floor under where the rear seat normally will be (same as the original Datto setup). From there I'll have to somehow connect it to the Bluebird TRX brake cable. Will have to investigate that further. Corolla handbrake will stay where it is, just space it up 3mm (as it will sit on top of the Datto one). Hydrolic MC will go pretty much next to the Datto lever, possibly using the same mounts.
  3. WHO IS PUMPED UP TO GO!!! ... I know I am  I made an anti-locking mechanism for my handbrake lever today: Basically I drilled a hole in the handbrake lever and stuck a bolt through it to stop the catchy-things (which shall now be called "thingies") from well, catching :S I at first tried to drill right through the handbrake lever and thingies, but for some reason my drill won't go through the thingies so I gave up. Cordless drills are useless when they have no batteries... Also took my rear brakes apart today, cleaned it all up... Will it work tomorrow? Who knows, I sure hope so... My handbrake cable is now too short, I can barely even get the single nut to fit... I can't wait, IT'S GOING TO BE A BLAST!!!
  4. Redwarf fanclub photo thread!
  5. As most people know, Me = HSCCQ. Ex-BSCC
  6. Oh wow, prreeeeety  I wonder if I can fabricate something like that... Hahahahaa... I could try :S
  7. Yes Ben, that's what happens when your stub axle breaks.
  8. Ah, yes - that's what I meant
  9. No they aren't. Single flare tools are cheap, doubles aren't. And no you can't use singles for brake lines.
  10. Teddy: You'd better start coming to motorkhana's soon if you want to be like Rob! I'm sure Rob's had years of practice behind him  1000x750 print???
  11. Rob: That's print material and I'm sending another batch of photos for printing sometime "soon", would you like one?
  12. Sorry, Fook is in serious mode at the moment, not fun mode
  13. You'd want a metal line for most of it, but have a rubber section at the end to allow the gearbox to move.
  14. Ah, the "if onlys" of motorsport  Ah well, there's more ICC events to come, but we'll make sure that HSCCQ gets the trophy this year :S
  15. Wow, if winglets take that long to earn their keep, I wonder how long it takes an airline to pay an aircraft off...
  16. All those cameras are very similar, the S5000 is a whole class below the rest. The FZ10 and the S1 have image stabilization which can help a fair bit with the big zoom and in low(er) light. The FZ10 and the S7000 also have the focus ring on the lens barrel, however I think in both cases it's fly-by-wire. Like I said before, I used the S7000, I really wasn't impressed. That said, have not used any of the rest. The S1 has gotten a lot of very good reviews. Based on reviews alone I'd be inclined to either get the S1 or the FZ10 (those 2 were on my shortlist before I got my A1) So, I think now your next move should be to read a few reviews, dpreview.com, steves digicams, imaging resource, those are just a few more reputable sites with reviews to digital cameras. All of those cameras, while very similar, have different strenghts and weaknesses. Work out what your priorities then are, scrap the cameras with weaknesses where your priorities sit. Once you have narrowed your list down to say 2 or 3 cameras, go to the shop and have a play. That way you can work out what works for you, and what doesn't.
  17. Easy.
  18. Datgirl: No doubt you will beat me, I don't have a handbrake, and I have an open diff. At the last motorkhana I was struggling to put any power to the ground whatsoever, and only started to really boogie at the end on one of the faster tests when I could use 2nd gear...
  19. Hahahahaha... I remember the days when Jamie would constantly give me shit for putting Scorpion control arms in my Corolla... And now he's suggesting it to other people to do
  20. Jamie: Well said.
  21. Let's repeat myself here: I don't have a great impression of air shocks as far as making a car handle. I could be wrong, who knows maybe air shocks have improved a fair bit since the last time I looked at them (craig had a very funky lolux). Air shocks are not cheap, or at least not the last time I looked. And besides, if air shocks were good for handling, then surely many racecars would have it, or something similar. Anyways, onwards to springs. What Felix said about hard springs is correct, or at least is to my understanding. So, what should you do? Really, whatever you want to do. What do I think would be best? I think it would be very helpful if you replaced your shocks. Like you said, they're the original items and they are shagged. Shagged shocks does absolutely NOTHING for handling (or keeping you from bottoming out). Get some heavy duty gas shocks, maybe some KYB's, and it'll help stop your car bottoming out etc. It will also help you keep traction in the rear end, and also help you put power to the ground. Like I suggested in my ICQ conversation with you, bring your car to a suspension specialist, maybe somewhere like Fulcrum or Pedders. Get them to do one of those el-cheapo suspension checks, it will tell you most everything that needs looking at on your car. Like you mentioned in the conversation, most of your bushes are probably shagged (however you also did mention you had new shocks...). If your suspension bits are stuffed, your car won't handle, and will do all sorts of weird things you probably don't want it to do. Like bottom out and kill your tyres etc. But at the end of the day, it all boils down to what YOU want to do. It's your car, it's your money. If you want to take our advice, then we're glad to be of some help. If you don't want to, then that's fine by us too. Don't think we're going to lose a moments sleep because you have other opinions, because we don't. Really.
  22. *split this thread because it's getting a little out of hand*
  23. arrogance? Since when was Felix arrogant? He's been trying to be helpful, and nothing more. Just because your car isn't a race car, or you don't race, doesn't mean that you can't make your car handle. Pinky wasn't a race car (although I did race it), but I still attempted to make it handle, albeit on a tight budget. The way you talk about most things gives the impression you like to drive hard, or at least have fun in your car. That generally implies you'd like your car to handle. But hey, implications aren't always right. Obviously both Felix and I don't think air shocks are the best thing for handling, but if you've heard otherwise and you think they suit your application, then go for it.
  24. For some reason this thread is giving me deja-vu.
  25. air shocks? As in like airbag shocks??? Why don't you just get better springs? Aren't your shocks new?
