Heh... Then again I spent a good part (or rather most of) today making noise and bad smells (read: panel beating and painting) in the garage and looking up law firms... oh-so-much-fun

Pretty cool, I still think the space invader was a cool "fix", especially the bits that were sanded down and even looked like part of the car :) Would have been much better to weld the replacement in, but welding is hard, and riveting is easy :D Pop rivets would work, I guess that's sort of the next best alternative. Bear in mind that pop rivets are generally aluminium, and the car body is steel, having different metals like that react and can encourage rust to develop in the steel. All in all, top effort. I can't believe you actually used a hacksaw to cut those sections out, that's just... commitment :) Well done. I had some panel beating work today too, fixing my front guard... Kinda looks straight now, but unlike you my enthusiam isn't quite as "unlimited" and I kinda went "meh" after about half an hour...

Kilcoy Canter? Is that the one on the 14th of August? I know there's some classic event going on somewhere but I'll be at Mt Cotton for some driver training thing that Sideline are running (organised by Peter Newell)...

Rob: Haha, don't worry you didn't miss too much :) I think the only 2 special stages I drove well were probably Prince Henry Heights and Gatton, all the other tests I was very average, especially at the dam, what with the lost time when I decided that cross country driving was more fun... I did fairly well in the first half of the motorkhana, and then I got to the 2nd half and absolutely sucked... Had a great time though! I only saw you run at the last motorkhana too :) Would've loved to see you run on some of the other tests. Are those plans final yet? If they are, you MUST repaint it red. The baby blue is just very ghey, and after seeing you in Marc's Stanza we all know that blue just isn't your color :D I can't wait for the results, I don't think we did well at all, missed a few VRC's which probably would have sent us a fair way back, and all the time I picked up in Prince Henry and Gatton I probably lost at the dam...

I have SV21 wiring diagrams, but only for 3SF and 3SFE engines...

Just got back from ken & nikki's (to fix my front splitter), am absolutely spanked and will be retiring to bed immediately after this. All I can say is: Oh Gawd did you guys miss out or what! What an awesome day. Prince Henry Heights at Toowoomba is an awesome drive, if you think Mt Glorious or Nebo or even Mt Cootha are cool, you haven't lived to taste what "cool" is yet :) That would have had to have been one of the best 1:20 sections of my life ever! Unfortunately I got a bit overenthusiastic towards the end of the day and ended up with a few scratches, some minor-ish panel damage and a rather unhappy looking front splitter (and a lot of grass, sand and stones in the cabin and in my shirt), but all in all I had an awesome day :D Haikal did an awesome job as a nav too!

Well, ended up running 32/34 today, car went awesome. Rears have stickied up a fair bit.

Covergirl: That's an... interesting avatar... Jamie: I don't know about you, but if it was moving at more than 8000 times a second wouldn't it like... hurt? :)

Haha, perhaps. They do seem to be getting rather sticky, and sand and little stones etc are getting stuck to them, yet they seem to still slip and slide a fair bit. Maybe I've just got too much power :) Yeah right :D

Took the car out for a spin at 32/34psi cold today. Apart from feeling a little less direct, *maybe* they stuck a bit better. But they were still a bit sketchy and Hal drove sideways a lot. Interesting... Don't really know what to do now... Might pump them up to 34/36 again tomorrow. Maybe. I can always drop the pressure again, but can't always pump them up.

Where are asian guys popular? I need to move... :)

Hahaha... and what makes you think sheep-bearing women may want to share with Corolla owners? :) If there's one thing I've learnt from travelling all around the world, if the women don't fancy you in one country, chances are the women from other countries will feel the same way too...

This isn't really the case for most newer radial tyres these days, the contact area actually doesn't change too much with tire pressures anymore. That's nto to say it doesn't change - you'll still wear the center / edges more with too high / too low pressures, but it isn't all that obvious. I tend to run reasonably high pressures, and I've got negative camber on the front of the car, yet I tend to wear the outside edges out before anything else. Could be toe settings too I suppose, but Pedders recon that's fine...

Erm... Short and lazy and not-so-useful answer: Read How To Make Your Car Handle. Even less useful to you because I think I have your book :) With my road tyres I generally run something along the lines of 36psi on the front and 38-40psi on the back. With my motorkhana tyres I sometimes even bump the backs to like 44psi. With track rubber (stiffer sidewalls etc) I tend to run slightly lower, usually like 34/36psi, although tonight I'm going to give 32/34psi a go. I guess the main things about tires and tire pressures is: - Underinflated or overinflated you lose grip - The grip levels drop off a fair bit slower on the overinflated end of things - With more air, sidewall flex is less giving more direct feel and less chance of rolling the tire off the rim - With more air less heat is generated due to less sidewall flex - this can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on application. - With more air the "threads" open up, giving bigger channels to drain water So generally, it's better to err on the high side of things. Ideally you'd want the "perfect" pressure, but what on earth is that?

Why fly all that way when we've got Covergirl? :)

Heh, yes the event will be rather different without Mick & Herald. And yes, they've won the events several times now, Mick is an awesome driver and Herald knows his way around too. If I'm not mistaken Harry and Tim won in 2001? I think. And yes, Craig and Brant also have a good shot at Gold i think, they came in 2nd or something last year. Glen and Larisa would probably do very well too. Haha, where does that leave Haikal and I? We'll be out for a ball. If we get a podium (even just in class) I'll be stoked :)

Never heard anything further about it, I would assume the deal didn't eventuate.

Lots of people are dreamers, some more than others :)

Car is stickered up: Going to test out different tyre pressures tonight, was running 36/38 last night and it's still sketchy as all hell. Dropped it to 34/36 before I went to bed, will probably drop it down again to 32/34 tonight before I go out, and if that's still a bit "meh" I'll drop it down to maybe 30/32. Then final check and prep, and it's ALL GO FOR TOMORROW!!! Sad news, Mick Jones in the STi has pulled out, car not ready :) That should make the event even more interesting, who's going to win? A big favourite is Harry in his Datto1200, but then there's also Redwarf and then there's the car Mel's navigating in (turbo Swift) that is blindingly quick... And there's the Hillman Hunter always seems to do very well... And then ther's that turbo Fiat 131 that pulled like 205hp at the same dyno I pulled my 69 from...

Favourite Redwarf character? I like Rob :) And Mel :D
