Hi Scott, Last time I checked (last year), putting a 5K in a KE70 is as simple as going to Transport SA, grabbing an engine number change form and filling it out. Of course, they need to do a mandatory engine number check (they don't need to actually see the engine) to make sure it is not stolen. I'm pretty sure they have a list of what engines are legal to fit what KE** rolla's in SA, the general rule of thumb I think is no more than 30% more power than standard. The 5K falls into this category easily, but as others have said you will notice the difference and it is well worth it. Go to Trasport SA and ask the question if you're unsure - just make sure you use the word "standard" everywhere, remember that it is the same motor externally and no modifications need to be made to the vehicle, it is just a slightly larger capacity. Cheers, Tom

Hello all, Does anyone know if axles in KE70's are the same in wagon and sedan? Also are left and right axles interchangeable? Cheers, Tom
-
Haha good stuff mate, bring it back to Adelaide when its done so I can drive it again!! If only that Nanna could see the screaming poo now...
-
Any luck yet? There seems to be an awful lot of cars being stolen lately... My KE70 wagon got broken into on Glynburn road not long ago, they took a torch and a pocket knife and smashed the glovebox open even though it was unlocked. Looks like they tried to start it but couldn't. My mate also had his old HJ Premier stolen from the exact same spot a few months earlier.
-
I also go mad for willow green benzo, in my opinion the best colour Toyota ever did, but I think it looks best on KE11's... My old one...I miss it so much
-
Yeah I have told them when I sold it, just couldn't find the sellers portion of the rego papers to prove it. I think they may have actually put a hold on the rego until someone actually tried to use the plates, which obviously hasn't happened yet. No real drama, I'd just love to know where it (and my other "lost" KE's) are :lolcry:
-
Benno! Yeah I'd love my steering wheel back! :lolcry: It's a bit of a story that thing - its been on my 2 x KE11's, a KE20, a KE36, 4 x KE70's, a Mazda Capella and my AE101!! I've had it for 10 years!! Yo :)
-
Yeah it could have been - she was mid 40's I guess... My mate used to see it in Gawler all the time for a couple years then it dissapeared, but they must have never transferred the rego and its still under my name :)

I'm bumping this...still want to know what happened to these cars. The KE11 was sold to a guy named Scott I think, lived in Henley Beach. Was distinctive as it had no chrome strips or badges, poor paintjob and heaps of surface rust on the roof. KE20 sold Gawler region, KE70 Smithfield area

There you go - learn something new every day! Thanks Tally Today I saw a granny driving an orange KE25, dead stock and looking pretty rust free and straight, paint faded. Nice!
-
Today I saw what I think was an import KE70 wagon - it had the panel van front end like smeetsy's with painted T-18 style bumpers. Saw it at Marden shopping centre, had a family driving it... Never seen one in Australia
-
Awesome bikes man, they both look tough as! Do you ride them much? The XS looks fantastic, whats it like on the road?
-
Welcome to rollaclub, baidin2006! Its great to see Corollas from overseas, thankyou for showing us! Have you modified the car yourself? It looks like a lot of hard work has gone into it. Can you tell us about the motor - has it also been modified?
-
How long ya reckon this has been sitting for! Not a rolla (Lite-Ace?) but a cool photo beasty hilux...check the whitewalls - they look brand new!
-
Just Wrecking Toyotas at Wingfield (last time I checked - 6 months ago) were doing low km import carby 7K long motors for $750 or 5K's for around $550. Its worth it when they've only done under 60,000 kms most of the time!
-
Do I see a light green KE11 sitting there? I want...so bad
-
Love '38's!!!!! Saw this cruzn the other day - sounded a bit rought like it needed a tune...or a new motor! Good score though - let me know if you decide to sell it when you get your gemini back on the road!! Seriously!!
-
thanks guys yeah they were white when i bought it, then silver until today. I'm still undecided - the silver made it look kinda 'factory' but the black really stands out and will set the whitewalls off. Anyone else feel free to offer an opinion...
-
Ok so I can't take this car off the road - it's too nice to drive compared to the wagon. Going to start fixing bits of rust and prepping panels whilst still using it as a daily... Got rid of the mudflaps, 4 new tyres 175/70 and went black with the stockies for a change and whitewalls are booked in for next week. Took some nice photos I thought I would share I think black looks better - opinions? If i go back to silver it's gotta be done before whitewalls, too much of a hassle afterwards! Peace, tom

And here we have it, quote of the year from 7shades: Say no more. You are indeed a man of infinite wisdom, practicality and common bloody sense.

Where to start... KE70's are widely reputed to be one of the most reliable and economical (to own) cars ever made. After owning and witnessing ownership of many different cars, I would say I have to agree. Treated with respect and maintained in good order, it can be very difficult to break one. Oh the stories I could tell... My current wagon has 340k kms and hasn't had the head off. It still tows a trailer with two motorbikes and a load of camping gear at 110km/h no worries and uses very little oil. To a lesser extent, this also applies to all early rollas, and this has been the basis of my passion for them since the start. Reliable, easy to fix, cheap parts, economical, different. I have to say my current KE70's I love because they are both 5 speeds with air-con, they are economical and reliable and the 4K can be a quick little motor if you're like me and don't need a race/drift car as a daily driver. I love that they have intermittent wipers, better door seals, comfy seats, better handling and brakes than older corolla's and parts are cheap and plentiful. My wagon is great because i can drive it anywhere and have general disregard for things like paint, rust and dents...work car! The sedan is great because it slides easily, handles great and looks a treat! Rust is indeed a problem for all us rolla owners, but there is worse out there....(gemini's, old holdens, datsuns etc). After owning heaps of 4 speed rollas I hate them with a passion and could not go back unless it was a relatively unmodified classic. I don't like KE70 bumpers but you get used to them, (the wagon is great because the rear bumper also doubles as a seat, tool bench, ladder and handy reverse parking sensor when parking against trees or fences...)and I don't like slant front KE70's even though I own one... As my first cars were mostly KE1x and KE2x rollas however, my love for these cars is about more than practicality. I simply cannot go past the shape and lines of Australian KE11 2 doors, in my opinion one of the most beautiful body shapes ever produced for a production car. Everything looks like its meant to be there...a well engineered and well designed car straight from the production line which can be tastefully modified to look like any number of race/street weapons. Of course one also has to love the attractive shapes of early and late KE20's, 26's, KE35's, KE36's, and quite franky I love the shape of my square headlight KE70 and wouldn't swap it for twin headlights if you paid me. I could go on as I'm sure many of us could...sorry! Go rolla's

Yeah Killswitch are very cool! Raven I too will be at Dillinger - perhaps we could catch up for a beer and swings our fists around like someone trying to start a lwanmower together!! haha For those unaware of this phenomenon, it involves metal (and what some idiots like to think is metal) and young males, usually in adidas tracksuit pants and wife-beaters. When alone in the mosh pit, they create space by flailing their limbs about the place in what may seem like an unco-ordinated flurry of excitement... This is, however, something these boys take very seriously. At is not uncommon to see groups of them congregate and "own" a good proportion of the mosh pit - anyone else is too scared to come within metres of these iditos as their movements are as unpredictable as a European wasp you just threw a rock at. In some instances, they can run around in a large circle up to 20-50 metres in diameter, kicking and punching the air with what seems to be a mutual respect type thing that "if you get hit in the face and I break your nose and you fall to the ground unconscious and swallow your own tounge whilst someone jumps on your head completely obvlivious as they are pissed, stoned and exhuasted from the heat and sweat and thinking you're fracturing ribs are just a pile of empty drink containers, it's your own fault!" It can, of course, start fights and scuffles with people like me who get hit and push them in the other direction - away from the stage!@! I actually got concussed by one wanker at the last dillinger show when he was trying to crowdsurf and rock out and scream lyrics at the same time and kicked me square in the head! Got home and found a nice black shoe-print on my bloody head!! For those unaware this is the Dillinger Escape Plan, 4-piece insane hardcore/metal although much more synthesised and electronic thesedays Anyway it should be very good - new album isn't quite as good as I had hoped but....it's dillinger...and maybe he will let me scream intio the microphone again!!

She certainly will stand out from a crowd!! Good work mate, keep us posted...looking forward to pics of the finished product!

Sorry guys haven't been on for a few days, I'll try to get to everyone... In general though I will say that its great to see some interest in this topic, music makes me happy and I'll also re-itterate that ANYTHING counts. :y: Trev: Awesome - sounds cool! Get back into it - everyone is looking for good drummers - took us 4 years! 7shades: Yes my boy, it most certainly does!! You're a jack of many trades indeed! Tell us more please!! Teddy: Thats awesome - I just bought a Korg full length hammer action digital piano off a realtive for $100 - it's unbelievable! I too had lessons till from 6-9 maybe, then just played by memory and by ear... Corolla Gurl: Of course it does!! And good on you for learning - it's hard to be a good dj thesedays! Gspec: Far out - super cool! Our bass player is jazz trained and I love jazz - great stuff man! What kind of band/music? What sort of setup you using? Keep it up - jazz drumming will teach you how to travel through time itself! ROLLA'BOY: Yes, yes, yes, do it, yes!! Ebay is your best friend KE70-from-mt-panorama: If you can still remember anything about theory, anything at all, you've still got it!! Try it one day! bLinded: (Alex) - sweet man - i just upgraded from a Pacifica - a worthy upgrade indeed!! Sounds fascinating to a fellow FAmily Guy fan - tell us more!! And Raven: That's great - metal is not my life but I love A LOT of it!! Big fan of necrophagist, meshuggah, dillinger, sikth, etc. Go the Soulfly too!! I think I might have seen you with Recrimination - I used to play in a band called Priapism and I think we went to one of your shows just drinking one night...maybe And yeah PM me and we can swap msn or hotmail or whatever - I too have many dodgy and some not-so-dodgy recordings of stuff I've done at home and in the studio... soyboy: Half a jazz band on your own!! canna: awesome - how old are you? What are your influences etc? Ever considered joining a band - usually know plenty of people in Adelaide looking! anastasios: Wow what an incredible experience! 800 people - that is a relatively large band by mot standards  Well done! Do you still play? Ok i think that's everyone - good... I've just sold a ME-50 multi effects and added to my collection with some new Boss effects pedals: Tremolo, Digital Delay (DD6), tube screamer, chorus and tuner :POSTPICS!:  Keep it coming people!

Hello fellow rollaclubbers, I have read of at least a few people on here who are musicians, so out of interest I though I would see if anyone wants to share their gift with us! Raven, I'm talking to you you god-of-metal! I realise this could be a useless waste of time (please tell me if it is!) but I thought it was worth a try I put it in off-topic and I don't initially expect much response, but....surprise me! To get the ball rolling... I'm 28 and have been playing guitar on and off since I was 15. I'm self taught with an ignorant teacher. I play mainly acoustic guitar but have recently bought an electric... Have been in numerous bands, but the last 5 years has really been dedicated to Athletic Teenage Joggers, a 4-piece (bass, drums, vocals and guitar+vocals) project of my own creation. It could loosely be described as hardcore acoustic folk rock (!!!!!! :rocknroll:!!!! , with influences ranging from Tool to Alient Ant Farm, and from Meshuggah to Crowded House. It's mainly very fast, catchy, sometimes quite heavy and melodic but also funky/jazzy and ballady at times. We've struggled with many issues, the biggest of which being my wrists - they are both permanently damaged from a work related injury, and other 4-young-guys-and-pubs+alcohol problems, but have just started jamming again and I have written lots of new material. We will hopefully be gigging again in the next month or so - can post gig info! Anyway my current setup includes: Acoustic *Maton EM325C acoustic/electric guitar. Beautiful Australian made *Takamine EF340SC acoustic/electric for lower tunings. Ageing very well *Fishman Loudbox 250 watt acoustic amplifier. The best acoustic amp around! *Plus my dads 1965 Kiso Suzuki Hummingbird copy, my house guitar which is a beautiful and rare family guitar which I could never part with! Electric * Guitar: Vintage rare and sought after Yamaha Lord Player 400 Japanese made Les Paul copy from 1982. A lovely instrument * Amp: New Fender Hotrod Deville 4x10 60watt all valve combo 3 channel...oooohhh yeah :jamie: A host of boss pedals which I use with both setups And a 400 watt P.A system with lots of mics, leads etc etc Cheers, Tom
