Looks and sounds awesome, Daimsy!! Great work on the build and a big thumbs up for your driving skills!

Haha we don't have those in SA... Although the car is fine if driven accordingly, she's far from what the authorities would say is "roadworthy" :( Will keep it in mind though... Of course it is very tempting to do this if its still going...

Update: the wags is serving its purpose as a camp/bike/work bus very well as per photos... 340,xxx kms and still going strong! Rear main seal looks like its going and valve stem seals are worn, rear bearings are noisy but I can live with that considering what the plans are... Plans: Get another 6 months out of it then take the good bits off and scrap the rest unless anyone would actually want the whole car...not likely haha Mate and I out at my block with our Vintage Enduro weapons (mine is the yellow Suzuki PE250 all rebuilt) Cheers, Tom

Tally - best photo yet! That is just awful - look at the flares!!! Looks like it was modded to be a buggy or something crazy like that! Its probably still woth 40 grand haha

Awesome ride Tom, love it! As for whitewalls there are a couple guys recently in business together - one drives a slammed matt black HD ute and the other a slammed matt black HK ute. If anyone wants their number I can get it. Cheers, Tom

All Japanese Day - Adelaide, Sunday 27th April, 08....
TOM replied to Chobis's topic in The Event Archive
We could hold hold our own "runners up" drive-by cruise in all the cars like my 70 which wouldn't get in but still look great... Regardless it should be a fun day...hope that red 20 Valve KE11 is there...drool -
I love this car mate - what an intelligent choice of car for your gf to drive! It's economical, reliable, fun to drive and I'm assuming sounds pretty cool, it looks fantastic and..... it has a pink motor!! What a lucky girl  Haha cool man, we all did that back in the day with similar paint, it works really well if you paint it smooth! Do your tail-light globes with a very very light coat of blue and you can have purple tail-lights... We used to drive in convoys on moonlit nights in the Barossa Valley where i grew up with only our green parkers on, it looks great! Whilst I'm not condoning this kind of behaviour(it was 10+ years ago on my P's), it does feel really good hooting down a road when the moon is bright enough and just following the white lines! My mate had also hooked up his hazard lights to constant, it looked crazy with a my low KE11 in front, showcar gemini in the middle with all its indicators on and awesome MkII Escort 2dr behind! :hmm:

Holy crap that must be an absolute pig to drive! I can just imagine it bouncing along the road purely on tyre pressure and bump stops! New tyres and 26psi will make it about 2% better, but... :hmm: Nice ride though - I love the fact you've put the chrome bumpers and kept the headlights - I'm not a fan of twin headlight conversions, reckon the original look with chrome bumpers is awesome! :hmm: Look forward to seeing the progress!

Hi Paul is that the 5K motor you bought off Gavatron? If so I was the guy who was meant to buy it but couldn't in the end... Anyway from memory that carby had just been tuned and jetted to suit that paricular motor - it was dynoed at 49 odd RWKW and when I drove it was running really well. Perhaps your problem lies elsewhere... ie points, dwell, plugs, timing etc... cheers, tom

Haha couldn't resist a quick google search... surely you didn't actually know this did you?

Is there anything you don't know about E7* rolla's 7shades? I reckon you may be right - the wagon has the front adjuster and the sedan the one on the side. Thankyou again for your wealth of knowledge!
-
Thanks Chris, Nah they're both standard 5-speeds, both have what I believe to be standard seats... I guess i can take the seats out of both and have a play one day, see whether its the rails or the seats that are different... That is if there really is a difference and i'm not just imagining it

Hello all, My late/slant front '84 KE70 wagon seems to have much more leg room than my flat front '82 KE70 sedan... I notice because I'm 6'2" - the sedan has a sports wheel and I still feel cramped up, where the wagon with the standard wheel seems to have heaps of leg room. The wagon also has a tighter turning circle. Is this a difference between sedans and wagons or early/late KE70's? If so is it possible to fit the different seat rails to my sedan to give me more leg room? Just one more click back would be awesome :jamie: Any knowledge appreciated :hmm:

Just picked this up for a daily crapper while I rebuild my sedan. My 4th KE70 (first slant front) and my 15th corolla... $700, 4K, 5speed, Air con, apparently has a new heavy duty clutch. Its red :hmm: Done 338k kms, floats like a boat so new shockers will be on the cards. Motor is nice and quiet, no smoke and goes as a 4K should. Paint is pretty good, rust is easily fixed but needs doing before it rains, pics to come as it gets fixed... Interior is pale blue and not too bad mostly Towbar, 5 speed and a/c sealed the deal for me as that was what i wanted Plan is to clean it up over a few weeks then use it while my white sedan is put into retirement for a rebuild. Will probably get lowered a fraction and some wheels I'm hoping to get back off an old KE36 wagon i had. Other than that just clean it up on the inside and drive the bastard...maybe should clean up ok for its purpose :'( dirty, dirty 4K and the greasiet a/c i have ever seen

Update: Car will shortly be retired to mums shed to begin work on the rebuild and bodywork. The old driveline is getting tired from daily thrashing and stuff like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFSypdEKqPI So yeah found a sweet new daily toy (new project thread coming...my 15th Rolla). Plan is to clean it up over a few weeks then stick the KE70 in the shed... There might not be much progress for a while but hope to get it back on the road by the end of the year.

Mate that is frigging awesome! Considering the work you've done it makes bloody sense too... It's awesome that you're not selling it after all that work, would have been a damn shame! Good work!!
-
Wow what an awesome job he did! It's pretty much my dream car minus a couple small things... Prized possession obviously...
-
That KE11 gives me goosebumps - does anyone know if the owner of it is on rollaclub? Did anyone talk to the owner? Would love to know if it's engineered etc Well done all
-
Unfortunately the guys at regency are trained not to be that gullible! You might get away with calling it a 4AC at the local cop shop (a mate of mine got away with an LJ torana with a very messy 2JZ conversion at the barossa cop shop - they thought it was air-conditioning or something!!!). Unfortunately you are right - your insurance (compulsory and otherwise) is void if the car is not engineered. My advice - make sure everything is clean and working correctly, especially with suspension and brakes as that is what they are concerned with mainly. Unfortunately there are very few people who can do the engineers certificates in SA and $2000, no matter how expensive it may seem, is the only way to do it correctly. The unfortunate truth is that you could continue driving your un-engineered KE70 forever with little chance of ever having a problem - even if it had a blown V8 in it, but the moment you hit Mr.Fancys new BMW or take out someones fence whilst drifting you are in big, big trouble...particularly if there are injuries involved It sucks, I know... Couldn't hurt to find someone who has done a similar conversion though - how about that red 20V KE11 which was at Toyoshow? Good luck turbo rolla
-
Those mazda stockies are cool - i had a set of chrome RX4 ones on my first KE11 and it looked sweet I dunno man, I thought they looked a bit odd on that one for sale actually... In my humble opinion those wheels should remain on GT falcons where they belong... Sweet rolla man
-
It horrors me to think that such a fine example of a rare and desirable car such as this would be cut up and have a shitsubishi motor put in it. I agree with the lads - personally i would rather see it with a nice hot 3K with the original twin carbs and restored to standard with the exception of lowering, whitewalls etc Nice score - i'll give ya twice what you paid for it ;)
-
Nice work Tally, looks kinda like mine! Hope to seeya cruisin around Radelaide soon! As for the chrome wheel trims, Just wrecking Toyota's at Wingfield have a whole rack of chrome trims with at least 6-10 immaculate KE70 ones - i bought a couple last week, and i mean overrated with no gutter rash at all! I also met a guy at U-Pull-It at Elizabeth who is building a supercharged 4K KE70 with tricked up standard auto trans, tried to convince him to join rollaclub and show us his work which hopefully he will do... Cheers, Tom

By the way the chrome strip under the bootlid - did it come with that? Really sets off the ass end of it - anyone know where i can get one from?
-
Haha makes my 13" stockies look kinda funny, hey!! I don't thin i've ever seen an orange one with such good paint - they normally look faded and crappy, but this is mad :hmm: Awesome ride mate, looks like a tidy score!! So many good 70's still out there!
-
I'm loving the factory looks the wheels give this car, so the stockies stay for the foreseeable future. Just some quality 175/70 tyres and whitewalls and i'll be happy. Need to fix the ride height - a little too low at the front and not quite low enough in the back, will have new shocks and king springs shortly. Rust, dents and paint will be next as i have little reason to change the 4K for now - it's economical, reliable, and still runs and goes really well despite a rattly timing chain on startup... Been doing some general tidying and getting bits from the wreckers... Immaculate sets of parker light lenses and indicator lenses... really sets off the factory stone chips :hmm: Tacho Dash... loving the digital clock and factory look - I'm not a fan of external tacho's in road-going KE rolla's, especially one's of the "monster" variety with silly bright dildo looking shift lights. Replaced a couple chrome trims, put the centre caps back on and blacken tyres, bumpers, stripes etc... It's deceptively clean... Yay :2thumbs:
