  1. Dude, if your car is set up for a T series, go for it!! There are a couple for sale on gumtree in Perth dammit and I'm in Brisbane. They are cheap as chips, recenlty rebuilt and will make a massive difference over the 3k. Jump on gumtree and grab one!! Forget the 12a.
  2. Do you know if the 3tgte manifolds bolt up to 3tc? I wouldn't have thought so but I don't know. So the 3tc from T18 came out with pollution gear attached?
  3. G'day Ian. So I now have the T series crossmember and engine mounts. No engines or part as yet because I am still trying to decide which avenue to go down. Very expensive to build your own engine, however you can get some great ones for relatively cheap out of the USA. Good luck with your build and let me know how it progresses.
  4. Hey mate, still got the car? If so, how is the project going? Interested to hear as I am about to go through the same thing. I am in Brissy.
  5. Well after much deliberating and searching I have managed to locate and purchase a 3T crossmember and mounts from Modify in NZ. Should be here in a week or so!! Now the time to decide on whether I build an engine at great expense or buy one prebuilt from the States. BRD quoted approx $5500 for a 200hp na 3TC but this did not include shipping. Very reasonable price as I am sure with all the machining work involved, I could not build one for that price. The 2nd option is to buy a used engine from the States. With all the work being done and all the good bits fitted, but taking a chance on the overall condition of the engine. Decisions, decisions.............
  6. Good to know cheers mate. Means I can go the 3TGTE avenue if I so choose now. Either that or 3TC - undecided as yet.......What's in your 25?
  7. I didn't realise this wasn't already in effect. Is there any publishing where this can be found?
  8. Sweep voume multiplied by 2 You would barely get away with a 12a n/a engine. It would be touche an go so check with an engineer. 2.13.1 Vehicle Mass The mass of the vehicle referred to in Tables LA1, LA2 and LA3 is the original (unmodified) tare mass of the model vehicle fitted with the largest engine available for the model in Australia but without optional accessories (air conditioning, tow bars etc.). The mass of the vehicle, whether it is a sedan, station wagon, utility, etc., should be based on the heaviest sedan version of the model (not station wagon version) sold in Australia. If the laden mass of the vehicle either on the front or rear wheels is more than 10% above that for the heaviest model version of the vehicle, then justification that the vehicle is capable of satisfactory operation at these loads is required. This must include analysis of axles, suspension, steering, braking, tyre capacity and speed rating. If the mass on the original front and rear axle is not known, the mass increase on each axle may be estimated as follows: ï‚· Subtract the original total mass of the vehicle from the new total mass (after modifications); ï‚· Distribute the difference according to the locations of the components contributing to any mass increase (i.e. engine, transmission, etc.); and ï‚· Subtract the distributed amounts from the front and rear mass of the modified
  9. G'day guys, Can someone please check over my knowledge and sums for the largest capacity engine that can be fitted to a KE25 Corolla. As I understand the following - Original Tare weight of KE25 Corolla - 760kg Vehicles up to 800kg - 3 x 760kg = 2280cc capacity for n/a engine Vehicles up to 800kg - 2.5 x 760kg = 1900cc capacity for turbo or supercharged Is VSB14 v2 the latest released version for NCOP and are these relevant for QLD? Has anyone fitted engines equivalent to the above and successfully gone through engineering? If so, are the only upgrade requirements essentially brakes and suspension? Thanks for the help.
  10. Thanks mate, seen that info floating around in various forms on the net. I think the 2tgeu head is the way to go from what I understand. 3t block is a must. BRD Racing quoted $5k USD for a 200hp engine with twin 45s. Bit of a bargain in my books as I'm sure I couldn't build one for that sort of money!!
  11. Hey guys, I know this can be done, but has anyone on here actually fitted a 4Y crank to a 3T block? If so, was there much work involved in doing the conversion@? ie: what rods, pistons, were used. I assume it will need line boring? How much needed to be removed from the block to allow it to fit. What is the best bottom / top end combination to use? ie: 3TC/3TGTE bottom end, 2TGEU head? Any help and horspower figures would be appreciated. This will be n/a and not turbo'd.
  12. Red 70 wagz with twin headlight grille, Settlement Road, Keperra on Sunday arvo........very nice.
  13. Hi Bruce, thanks for all the. Very useful. Would there be any additional advantage over running the 3TC block as opposed to the 2TG. ie: is it lighter etc. How easily does to the 2TG head bolt up to the 3TC block?
  14. Excellent - Pics and price please if you don't mind and are keen to sell?
  15. So I see you collect a few parts. Would you happen to have the missing badges from the front and rear of my car as well as a matching set of wiper arms?
  16. Lol, I shouldn't laugh - I had an L20b with twin webbers in my old 30. Went like a shower of poo though!! What was it like with the astron in it? I need the badge from the center of the grille!!!
  17. Tally - I certainly did mate. Had it shipped upto QLD. Was looking for one for about 9 months and saw it. Was the cleanest one I had seen for quite a while so took a gamble and put a deposit on it without viewing. You wouldn't believe it but the next day on ebay the most original 25 ever popped up on there is Brisbane for $9k - lol. Always happens that way. Anyways, I am reasonably happy with it but being an ex-panelbeater I am particularly picky. I did see all the previous photo's of it but not sure about the previous engine? Assuming a dirty old 3k? Anyways, lots to do on it. The clutch is shuddering really badly so not going to put it back onto the road until I really go through it and get it to a point I'm happy with. Do you know Frank well? Was Frank in the old Rolla's circle? He seems like a nice, genuine fella which is why I took the gamble on buying the car without seeing it!!
  18. I asked my contact in Japan about the tail lights as they do look hot as sin!!! He is keeping any eye out for me though I am guessing they wont fit either... He did get me a brand new dashpad though for cheap cheap.
  19. Cheers for the scare guys - Ohwell, as Jono C pointed out earlier, I'll have a nice ornament for my wall ;) Either that or sell it on down the track, booo :(
  20. Thats cool, well I've got the grill and surrounds now. Will trial fit them when they turn up from Japan and see how it all looks. I can always hold onto them and keep searching for the other bits and convert when they are found ;)
  21. Damn, that sux. Already ordered without doing my homework, anyhow. Are you sure the differences are as major as that. I though it might just be surrounds and obviously mounting points for the grille. Bugger.....
  22. Cheers Bruce - Decent price, will have to see if he can ship. Shame I can't read Japanese! One the bright side I found a NOS dash pad for $230USD shipped :):)
  23. Very lateral thinking Red Dwarf - Will keep that in mind for next time, though hopefully there wont be one ;)
