  1. Hey how's the project coming along? Cruise coming up in March, you definately should come if its not too far :hmm:
  2. I'm definately in, been waiting for a cruise like this for awhile. Be good to give my car a good run!
  3. This thread makes me sad....so many beautiful relics! I'm glad i could at least save mine :P
  4. I know i love the ke55, by far the best looking corolla..to me anyway :D I think the link to mine is in my signature? Her name is Billie. Candy will definately suit yours! Hope to see it sometime at a cruise somewhere :D Cheers CaRz
  5. Nice ride  Good to see more girls into the Ke's! You got the same ideas as i have for mine which is cool :y: I'd love to respray mine pink/purple/any other girly colour but can't do that until the bf gets his own ke to play with lol. Have you named it yet? lol. Keep us posted! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  6. Mine gets very noisy at top speed because of exhaust. But i did just recently get the bearing in the driver's side rear wheel fixed and replaced..mechanics charged me $140, don't know if that's any good or not, (being that i'm a female and i just wanted it fixed) because of hearing a "rolling" noise at low speeds. When i got the car back, the noise was still there, and we discovered it was coming from the other rear tyre. So we jacked it up ourselves, had a play round with the wheels, took them off, put them back on, tightened them up etc and it seemed to go away. Haven't had too many problems since. Don't know if that helps or not, good luck :lolcry: Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  7. I don't like the hours system...50 hours is alot, 100 hours is just torture. I've been on my L's for two years now..and i've only just reached 48 hours, due to not having anyone to teach me and not having the money to afford driving lessons. I've also heard the rumours about it changing to 24 months minimum, but nothing has been confirmed yet. I'm urging my brother to get his L's before they change the rules and make it even harder to get your license.
  8. I got the weirdest stare from..wait for it...a commodore driver turning out onto the highway the other day. Couldn't work out whether i knew him or if he was a freak cause he was doing some strange wave thing... And couldn't figure out if it was the car or me?! Weird...
  9. Hey all, Been awhile since i update this page. And alot has been done. Car is now registered and roadworthy and has been zooming around the streets with L plates on for quite a while! We were looking at the prospect of putting better wheels on, but didn't want to go anything new or "bling". Found some MA61 Supra Rims, 14x7" which looked great, and were a bargain at $300 (with tyres). Just put them on yesterday and they look awesome! Front wheel going on, car still jacked up The test drive (note the car is naturally lowered, due to having 3 people in the car..) The end result, all wheels on The tyres (they're huge but i like them!) Other pics we took that look great... Let me know what you think....i think they make her look alot more beasty :lock_folder: Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  10. Lol i'm a home and away fan..you gotta admit, its better than neighbours... The burnt out car was supposed to be a camry (the guy didn't own a corolla, he owned a camry) so they screwed up there! Oh and lost is getting soooo good!
  11. Damm i wish, exactly what i'm after for the KE55...
  12. Just a little update... Finally got the car fixed up, that is the seat bracket, fan belt, idler arm and steering column box...all done for the cost of $66. Was really happy about that. So it passed pink slip, will be getting it registered next week so i can finally drive it! (Legally!) Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  13. Heya, No hard feelings about using my car's pic lol, it will get some attention now, cause i love what you've done to yours! I'm looking to do about the same, once i get some cash flow. Want to respray the original colour, re-do the door trims cause i really don't like the blue, maybe black or white. Also looking to replace the carpet aswell. Keep it up..hopefully mine will look as hot as that one day! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  14. Hey all, I'm looking to get my KE resprayed...the current colour is Australia Post Red and i'd like to get the whole car redone in the same colour. Just wondering if anyone knows how much this would roughly cost so i can work out a budget.. Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  15. Username- carzcrazy Real name- Cara, Carz Car- Red 1981 KE55 corolla
  16. Geez that is freaky...that you can get that information so easily. Luckily i don't live in a metropolitan area...!! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  17. Hey all, Got some more pics...have to take more once i get hold of a camera again. The new seats, which my cat decided to use as a new place to settle! Inside with my groovy new seat covers..i had to get red to match the car! Going to take more of dash, inside etc... Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  18. Update... Got some new seats put in from a CS KE55 which were cloth ones in very good condition, unlike mine which were vinyl and ripped to shreds. Also put a new seatbelt in the drivers side as the old one was tattered and probably not passable. Bought a wiper motor because the one that is in there is reeealllly slow, so hopefully another one will be better. Got this all at the wreckers for a total of $200 (originally $220 but i got it down $20) so wasn't too bad. Next i'd like to pull apart the dash and take a look at the wiring, what goes where etc. And try to re-wire the cd player whch is connected to god knows what, as it only comes on when switched to "on" and not accessories. Don't know if it's possible to change that with such an old car but i'll see what i can do. Also looking to see what my little mystery switch is connected to, if anything. I think its there just for decoration. Hopefully booking the car into the mechanics in the next week to get the steering fixed, that is the idler arm and steering column box. And to see if they can figure out a rattle in the front of the car. And then off to get a green slip and get it registered. Now i have to work on getting my P plates so i can actually drive it (legally!) Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  19. There is a demister to the right...with the picture and all but i don't think it has rear vents?
  20. Hey all.. Was just wondering, i have a mystery switch in my KE55. It's located in the middle section, left of the ash tray. I've looked on other KE55 models and it's not there. I'm not sure if there's a difference in models, since mine is a SE. It's a little red switch that flicks up and down. We've tried seeing what it does but we can't figure it out! And i don't have manual as yet (waiting on one to arrive). Just not sure if its a standard thing or if its been put in there, and what it could be attached too! Just curious! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  21. Hi all, Took my car for a pink slip and it didn't pass. The things that need fixing are the Idler Arm and the steering column box. I've found out basically what the idler arm is but not sure how to go about fixing it...could i do it myself or would i need a mechanic? Also with the steering column box, i have no idea what's in involved or whether or not i need a mechanic, parts etc. Any help and advice would be good!! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
  22. Hi all, I just recently purchased an unregistered 1981 Corolla KE55 Sedan for $300 with only 264,000 k's. In pretty good condition, paint needs a bit of work but it's definately a work in progress. At the moment it is running just the standard 4K-C engine and 4sp gearbox. Hoping to maybe upgrade to a 2TG engine and upgrade to a 5sp T50 gearbox. I've heard this is the most common conversion...but unfortunately can't do all this until i get off my P plates (stupid new laws!). As mentioned before, paint needs some work, hoping to do a respray of the current colour. Pretty clean inside, apart from the usual wear and tear you expect from a 25 year old car. Took it for a pink slip today, and unfortunately it didn't pass. The front driver's seat needs to be recushioned or will be looking around for a second hand one in better condition. Also the Idle Arm and the Steering Column Box need fixing apparently so hopefully getting that fixed in the next week. Tyres at the moment are pretty standard, want to replace and chuck some 15" Rims on there, looking around for some that suit it. Any ideas will be welcomed! Oh not to mention the very loud cannon exhaust....! Cheers ~*CaRz!*~
