picked up my pistons and rebuild kits today pistons were 25 bucks each and 11 bucks for the rebuild kits each... Was heaps happy...

Ok just a quick update. This project is still alive peeps. Sorting out brakes at the moment. Picked up pair of brand new pistons and rebuild kits for my calipers. Might grab a pair of KE30 calipers and rebuild them as my KE25 ones arent too good but ill see what I do. Then once that is done still need to sort out a few things. And here is the final "Getting It On The Road" TO DO LIST: - Rebuild Brakes - New Full 2" Exhaust - New oil, plugs, leads, fuel filter after these few things are done ill focus on the small bits... ok guys got the calipers back today. Havnt been rebuilt as of yet... but I told the guy to order in the parts. I told him they were off a KE25 but he said on the computer it shows two different types of calipers and my calipers don't look anything like the pictures. He said they look exactly like KE30 calipers. So he said ill order in the pistons for them and the rebuild kits aswell. So basically I'm confused. So thats why I took some pics. Do I have KE30 calipers or KE25 calipers? I thought you couldnt use KE30 calipers with 12" rims? If thats so I must have KE25 Sumitomo calipers? Anyone got a close up pic of a caliper that is defiantly KE30? On the PBR website it shows that the FRONT WHEEL piston is the same on KE25, KE30 and KE55 = JB8128 It also says that the FRONT WHEEL Kit-Caliper (Min) is the same on both KE25 and KE30 = K1180S And I should say that I assume these parts are for the sumitomo caliper type. Item No: 260235282559 on ebay looks to be a KE30 caliper as the numbers on the fin are different? Spotted minta one owner KE20 in wagga wagga and on the way home a brown ke20 on main north rd Also spotted a shitload of datsuns on my recent road trip.

Well my mate couldnt get the pistons out of the calipers lol. He soaked them in kero and brake cleaner since friday. He applied compressed air and everything and still couldnt get em out lol. So went and picked em up today and dropped em off at Power Brakes. 20 minutes later and "pop" out they come lol! Now getting them rebuilt. Should be sweet. Cheers Tally

Well just went up to Power Brakes. He can get the pistons and rebuild kits, and much cheaper then the other places that I got quotes from $54 for each piston and $16 for each rebuild kit. So Most likely get the stuff from him.

sad man but what can ya do? stuff happens aye. At least for the people who have them the prices will just keep on going up. Still find them if you look hard enough me thinks.

Spotted yellow Ke20 on port wakefiled rd and yellow Ke70 drifta on main north road.

Just got back from getting them checked out. Getting em done by my dads mate. He said rebuild kits are available no probs but he said to cross my finders about the pistons. He called 20 suppliers and only one said he thinks he has some, and he is in sydney. So fingers crossed. PBR no longer make the pistons anymore. The caliper is a japanese brand Sumitomo. PS type (small =O= looking piston body, open disc pad tops with large pad protector) My other KE20 brakes are the F type (small round piston body, closed disc pad cover with viewing hole) and thats probebly why they didnt fit, well they did but they rubbed the rotors. Rotors must be different between KE20 and KE25. So yea hopefully it works out. He is gonna soak em over night and then pull em apart. He said he 'MIGHT' be able to use the pistons again but its very unlikely as they would most likely be pitted from rusting. Ill see what happens. Cheers Tally

I would do it man just like I have done everything else on my car but as other people have said, id rather get a specialist to do it right.
