  2. argh I'm going to say the same thing as i did on toyknobs, f@$king search, google search any search you will find ALL of this info, otherwise how the f@$k would i know? either its a later model t40/50 with 22 output splines or its anearly model with 20 splines, exactly the same inside and out no matter what anyone tells you. the t40/50 is missing the driven gear and really isnt worth you while go a w box cos it will last and you will not break it, pop the clutch like we all do and either your clutch will slip if not a t50 will go bang, if not (or you have a w box) your diff will go bang, and if neither of those go you axle will shear
  3. thats good news now let it be known that i did engineering for a year, and andrew (love ke70) did it for 2 weeks lol. in that year i have established a few things the hard way; 1 be prepared to do revision and study on the weekends it will help ALOT!, 2 try and do all your assignments yourself, don't copy others (its to your benefit), 3 uni first, work second, car dead fukin last. but yeah enjoy eng1000 its a bludge but easy as, oh and if you get the project that entails the power supply to a mining operation let me know cos i can supply you with some useful shit;)
  4. you make a valid point there.... but I'm staying with factory for the minute. how much is acutally gained from an aftermarket ecu? cos my goal for this project is an efficient daily driver with a bit of power for fun, and good drivablity, id hate to sacrifice a lot of driveablity for a little bit more performance
  5. there is a silvertop map used by anthony kellam to get the cars started, but as he says they really need a dyno run. differece is with the black top it runs map, not a huge issue if i set up a map sensor, but then its got slightly different cams and a few other differences but yeah its coming along, engine is back out, bay is being cleaned up, shit removed tomorrow night, then painted later on next week

  7. jarad: yes thats ur weber des: yep thats a servo just outside beauy coming back from the lions road-border loop us classic celica peeps did and engine bay will be black to match the rest of the car, it only gonna be a rough job cos .... well its the engine bay 20v will be stock for the moment, with the addition of a nice set of 4-1 extractors and a f00li siCk y0 pod filter cos i can't make the airbox fit neatly anywhere, it will be on factory management for a while till i understand how to tune the adaptronic properly (thats gonna be my ecu fi i ever upgrade) umm maybe some porting if i get bored..... and a rebuild soonish if its tireder than what i thnk it is, but yeah there isnt ah whole lot u can do (i beleive) to a 20v without going force fed, and i dun wanna go there cos I'm a sissy :hmm: check my thread on toymods, its got a few more pics n shit, and a few more questions answered, i *might* put pics of my new mounts up, but yeah, I'm a lazy turd and if all goes to plan i should be back on the road late jan early feb, but like i said if all goes to plan..... take it easy
  8. hi guys i thought i would start me a members ride thread, i have been threatening to do it for a while:P well this is what i have at the moment: thanks gerrard for the photo of me filling up:P thats the old powerhouse the new one the ta22 (top)and an ae71 crossmember(bottom) empty engine bay (how is no engine progress?:)) at present the engine is sitting on its new mounts all in alignment and all that needs to be done is the tailshaft mods. ill get some pics of it tonight maybe, then i gotta take it all out and paint the bay, then engine goes back in and i attempt to tackle the wiring :hmm: anyway thats all for today, some updates tomorow depending on progress of course take it easy everyone

  10. hey guys the ta22 has a shorter engine bay by about 75mm, shorter front struts, and is also slightly narrower across the front. the T/RA23 had the parkers mounted in the bumper and ALL '23s had the square lip guards and the homo looking pillar vents as well as the flat indicators, bonnet bulge, different windscreen washer vent things, different dash eith different instruments full length console (like 22 st and gt) and i beleive a 3 speaker factory stezza (as opposed to 1 speaker in the 22). all of the first gen celicas share the same rear suspension, if ya can get ur hands on an ra25gt (good luck sunny) u can slot the f series rear end in with no dramas I'm currently putting a 20v into my 22, those that wish to see progress/what I'm doing >click here< any other question, ask cos i can probably answer them edit* 21r's also came in hilux's

  12. no none at all ;) although i do see the similarity with the JZA80 but if ya look at the *A70 and *A6* supras they look nothing like it, not even remotely
  13. oops 86, got my years mixed up there i think the argument of " the supra has an I6 therefore it is closer to the 2000gt than the celicas" isnt valid in my eyes (I'm not saying its not valid at all, just i think there could be a little more to it) the early (first gen 70=>78 ex ra40) ceilcas share so many more cosmetic features than the later model supra. the characteristic "mustang" contour below and slightly behind the rear quarter window, the fender mirrors, ALL JDM celicas came with fender mirrors, the positioning of the guages relative to the driver (all 1st gen), the bonnet vents/slits (ta23-ra28), the slanted front (short nose ta22). and the long bonnet (ta23 onwards) also the longish bonnet was used in the JDM ta22 and ra25's. and backwards opening bonnet but being fair i will look at both sides of the argument similarities for the supra models. the long bonnet (although it opens the wrong way on the supras. the I6, the use of a "pillar" behind the drivers window. slanted front. and hatch thats about all i can come up with.... to me they look alot like the first gen celicas, but the supras have the similar running gear. but they also look a mcfarq load like other cars, like the etype jag, 240z, and the corvette stingray. all of that being said i think we can all agree they look nothing like a ke70
  14. hence the inverted commas, it was marketed at a higher spec, more powerful car, it had irs before the celicas did, stronger transmission and a larger engine. a majority of celicas never had anything other than T or R series engines (both I4's) in them (exepting the sa63 and v.rare aa63) but, the supra is based off the celica chassis (hence the A in the supra coding(MA61, GA70)) IMHO the early celicas namely the 22-28 show much similar lines than any supra model
  15. hey I'm doing engineering atm at uq, basically its f@$ked, all i can say is be prepared to work, be fukin good at maths, i was doing the first year mining plan but its essentially the same for everyone basically I'm finding the maths to be the real killer that, my lazyness and bens old celica. I'm changing to surveying at QUT if that doesnt work for me ill go back to the trade idea which was the initail plan but changed cos my parents are wankers :jamie:
  16. actually the supra was based off the celica, the supra was a higher spec "race bred" type car. the starting point of the celica was actually the EX-1 concept car, the ta22(or ra20) was released in 1970, a facelift in 9/72 i think where the rear filling drop tank was dropped (no pun intended) for a boot mounted tank with the filler in the C pillar. then in 73 the SV1 concept car was un veiled and led to the limited production of the RA25, unlike the other liftback celicas this was based on the ta22(RA20) chassis, so the short nose ta22 and ra25 front end was interchangeable then in 8/74 they gave the guards more flare and a very gay square lip, 75 had a major facelift and a slightly different chassis with a longer engine bay and the addition of a "powerbulge" different interior and the 18R engine then after 77 went to the ra40 and downhill from that. '82 is when the supra split from the celica. thats also when toyota discovered the flying door wedge shape:P
  17. very cos they only came out in the lexus altezza. basically ur looking at about 5 grand for the engine 1500 or thereabouts for a aftermarket ecu, unless u wanna use the guage cluster key barrel and OEM sequential tranny basically unelss you have 10grand in the bank or more STOP DREAMING!!!! that will be all

  23. hey guys, dellow got back to me, and no dellow don't do ca18 to anything other than standard (s13/rb20), but the nice folks sent me a catalogue, a sticker and a nice hand written note AJPS: is this a valid statement? if so how are ca18s seriously shit??, it is not unknown for ca18s to spin bearings, but how does rebuilding an engine solve this? spinning bearings is an oil flow issue. A BHG is far from common in these engines(more of a poo motor problem :dance:), i have known of ALOT of ca18's which haven't spun a bearing, and alot more that havent blown head gaskets. Using some generalisations, a freind of mine has a 4ac in a hatchi, he blew a hg, does this make his engine crap? according to you yes, he is the only guy i know with a 4ac, therefore it is crap doesnt make sense does it
  24. i get drunk alot... some say too frequently, I'm missing about 2 hours from saturday night, i even missed the england game :dance:, i have stuffed my relationships with some girls by getting drunk, but they got over it when i said sorry, its even worse waking up next to somone you didnt go to bed with, its happend twice with the same person, not cool at all:n: don't worry man if the guy is bigger than you just run away with ur tail between ur legs or have a shot or two of dutch courage and then have a go, it hurts less that way
