Definitely hatch. The corner curve is waaaay too long for sedan.

Anything over 15 years old and not completely rusted in half or smashed up to buggery is hard to get in the NT :P

You'll piss it in. I've done Brissy to Cairns a million times in MUCH worse vehicles :P Take 10L of water, 5L of fuel, 5L of oil, basic tools. Oh and remember to fill up in Rocky because there's sweet f*ck all between there and Mackay.

Yup... Although not in summer. There's a one month window in spring just after the snowmelt, when the rivers are low enough to cross (in a relatively normal 4wd) and the rains haven't yet turned the 'road' into a truck swallowing quagmire. Its all about timing :)

I intend to drive all of those roads. They're on my bucket list. I've already driven on parts of the 'ice highway' (in a Toyota Tundra, no less :P) an assortment of shitheap 'Murrrican pickurrp truurrks, and one 7.3 Litre diesel Ford E350 Van towing a 4 tonne trailer :blinks: Next on the list: The Road of Bones in Siberia. After that: El Camino del Muerte, Bolivia. It must be done.
