  1. Would love to keep up to date on this mate as I will need a new one for my 10 at some stage.
  2. Hey mate There are two ridges running vertically above the tunnel, trying to find whole section between them, preferably cut on outside of the ridges to give me some scope to make the panel correct fit. You have a lead for me?
  3. Still looking for a firewall section jono, is there anythig usable left?
  4. That would be awesome jono thank you! If it doesn't impede on what you need I think best would be to cut on outside of ridges to allow my engineer to decide how he wants it installed. Thanks again mate appriciate it
  5. On the firewall there are two ridges I need everything in between those down to floor pan. Does that make sense? For some reason I can upload pics on phone so I can email or text you a picture to show you the section I need but basically bigger better!
  6. Hey guys I have a clean rust free car which was modded but not plated for a bigger engine which involved recessing the firewall. I have an engineer who is happy to sign off on replacing that section if I can find a replacement a section of firewall and need to know if anyone in qld preferably around Brisbane has a wreaked ke1x? I also need a front crossmember but that isn't as important to my engineer as I can refab engine mounts. So if anyone knows someone with a car I can chop up to save a nice example it would be great. Cheers Paul
  7. This debate goes either way really, from personal experience I had two friends in a datto 1600 with a half cage that are still alive today after one of the worst multiple car crashes so I fall on the not needed but could help side of things.
  8. Hey blugg I could be wrong but I believe for bars you would just need standard chrome, I know there is a process called hard chroming which is used for motorcycle forks but that would most likely be Unnessecary for a bumper as not under the same friction as a bike fork. Hopefully someone can help us both out with a shop!
  9. Hey guys can anyone recommend a good chrome shop in brissy? Thanks in advance
  10. Hey rod, I've got a few old bikes I'm thinking of painting so please share, I'll be watching
  11. Congrats on the baby mate, hopefully you can get back to the build soon as I am enjoying following it!
  12. Hey ham Probably going to sell it, pm if your after it.
  13. Just found an engineer who said repairs can be done so again back to looking for any panel or fabricators in brissy who would be able to make a new tunnel and repair a 200 x 200 recess in firewall. Pm if capable and interested
  14. Hey mate Was looking to get a few rust spots patched and a tunnel fabrication fixed but talked to tmr today and work which has been done on shell already has made it unable to be registered due to firewall modification so think I'm going to have to chop this one up for rust repair sections and start again. Unless you can repair firewall to factory spec?
  15. Hey looking for someone to do some fabrication work in Brisbane if we have anyone on the forums who wants some weekend or night cash in hand work to help out with my ke10 build. Pm if you have the skills and are interested Cheers Paul
  16. Ok so new direction on the build and thought I would update, I got the 4k apart and it was very roached. I worked out after rebore, new pistons and balancing crank I would be better off sourcing a new engine to work with. My love of shiney objects got the best of me and I now have in my hot little hands a factory fresh 5k and 3k big port head which is will build up to put in the car. So when this little beast is on the road it will have 0 ks on the clock which will make it unique and kinda cool. New dilemma today though, while stripping the floors I found a couple of small rust patches and also the job done on the tunnel was pretty poor so I'm going to need to put a bit more into the body than originally planned but that's ok cause I want it done right while it's all in bits. So anyone know a good fabricator / panel and paint place near east brissy?
  17. How is this registered! It must be a weapon! Good luck with the build, keep pics coming.
  18. short motor, block crank pistons and thats about it. No head and none of the stuff listed above
  19. Hi Guys, Trying to find prices for 5k parts to decide which direction to go on my build as have looked at a 5k Short motor but not sure what i can use off the 4k i have and what will be easy to find and what will be hard to find! Without prices i am having trouble deciding which way to go, so list of what i think i would need for the 5k is below any help on what i can salvage while finding new parts and what would be easy / hard to find would be great. Timing chains and gear Oil return - Think i can use 4k Sump - think i can use 4k? Gasket kit - $60 ebay Valves / Springs / Rockers - Have complete 4k head and 3k head only Push rods - use 4k? Timing cover - use 4k? Rocker cover - i can use 4k Pulleys Thermo and thermo housing oil filter mount (not sure correct name of this) - use 4k? Engine mounts - have new 4k Intake - lynx manifold and twin su's already have Cam - regrind a 4k one or are they different? Alternator Distributor Starter motor Flywheel Water pump Anything ive missed that you know i would need please add!! Also any recommendation for engine builders in Brissy would be great Thanks in advance. Paul
  20. Thanks Feral, Your not in Brisbane by any chance are you? would love some tips on making a quick engine thats good cruising around in without spending ridiculous cash and i am stripping the 4k now and about to start looking at what to put on and in it. PM me if you have any suggestions on people, parts etc i should be talking to and looking for. Cheers Paul
  21. Thanks Guys, I have been looking at the block of wood against the crank option but didnt want to float it as an idea incase i got shot down! Appriciate the help! Ill post updates in the build thread on how it all goes!
  22. Well if it makes it any better I'm taking it back to as original rolla powered classic goodness as I can
  23. So you chopped the dash out? Sacrilege!
  24. Hi Guys, So i have been posting lots of random questions and i thought i would just start a build thread so i have a central place to find info and share the build. Thanks to Altezza and a few others who have been super helpful so far. I found a 67 rolling shell which had been sprayed and was relatively rust free on fleabay and it had been sitting in this guys shed for 7 years since the work was done. He had cut out the dash and widened the tunnel to take a sr20 and then run out of cash. Plans are just to get it back on the road and then start getting things together to start from scratch (want it to be Matt black rather than purple) So anyway since i have had it is have done the below. Drove to bundaberg and cut the dash out of a rusting away car - also salvaged front seats Found a 4k which i have now started to strip and have everything out of except the crank (can't get the bolt off so any suggestions?) Sourced a k50 in really nice knick - thanks Clapped out for throwing in the free clutch Got twin 1 1/2 SU's and a lynx manifold (yet to mate the two together) Should have rear seats and all cards shipping from Melbourne this week hopefully. Pulled the rollcage out (I'm too tall to have the drivers seat where i need it and still pass engineering) I work about 80 hours a week so progress might be slow but i do have a good 10 day stretch to get some things moving and I'm planning on jacking it up and seeing what running gear i have, think it might have ke50 front struts so might post some pictures see if anyone can identify. Anyway here are some of the pics so far and ill post more as i get to things.
