Anyone see this guy last weekend. He was quick.
  2. I used Global auto spares on the Gold Coast 07 55710466. Should be no reason why they could get parts and others can't. I suggest get friendly with the staff and they may try harder to source parts. I also used Better Brakes 0755710271 to make up rubber brake hoses. Maybe i was just lucky and got the last of the parts. Goodluck
  3. I've only just sold mine and never had any trouble getting parts (had it for three years). I had an early 67 and always went to Global for my parts. All most never in stock but most times there that afternoon or next day. The drum brakes work fine, just adjust them properly and don't expect miracles from a 40 year old car. It's not like it will go super fast anyway. Cheers Chris
  4. Well it's all over for this engine. :y: Pulled the head off to find no 1 exhaust seat missing all together and no 4 just about to fall out. Top of the piston has a nice mark from the valve hitting it and lots of other marks as well. Plus the engine has been pinging and has destroyed the sides of all 4 pistons. I guess it pays to have the head looked at when you freshen up an unknown engine. Oh well guess i'll bolt the old motor back in. I only changed it because i could. On the plus side the engine was still running fine today after i adjusted the valves. looking at the pistons it wasn't long before she went bang. :)
  5. Hi I have had to adjust my tappet clearance, as the exhaust clearance has tightened right up on 1 and 4. No1 took 3/4 of a turn of the screw and no4 took 1/2 a turn. all others were fine as it was all checked 3 weeks ago. The car has run fine up until this week when it really started to become undriveable. Do i have a problem with my valves stretching or is it another cause. Can anyone shed any light on the subject? My next course of action will be to take the head in to have the valves changed if needed. By the way all the nuts were tight. The engine is a 12r in a 67Corona. These are a pushrod with solid lifters.
  6. Hi I got mine from my local rubber supply shop. if you can't get the size you want then just glue smaller pieces together with pva glue.
  7. Try your local library. should be in the reference section. just photo copy what you need.
  8. When i needed new hose for my corona I just took he old ones into my local brake shop and they made up new ones for me. They looked the same and fitted the same with out any dramas. I can't remember how much but I didn't think they were too pricy. They've been there two years with no problems.
  9. Check your float levels, this can cause stalling under braking. not sure what height they should be, but someone on here should be able to tell you.
  10. just follow the wires and see where it goes, Could be for any thing. mine is a remote on off switch for the amp
  11. You may find that you heater hoses are blocked off for a reason. Most likely your heater core has a hole and leaks inside your car.
  12. I find using premium unleaded instead or regular will stop running on in my car.
  13. I have a mechanical temp gauge that has been mounted in the block flush plug at the back of the engine. never had a problem. My engine is a 2r no a k series so may be different.
  14. You may be able to take it to a auto electrican to check gauge and sender. Someone else may be able to varify this, as i think i read this on here sometime before.
  15. I would expect that it would be around the 1/4 mark. Having a lower thermostat will let you coolant flow through the the whole system earlier than normal. I wouldn't expect it to change the high reading you are getting if your old one is working correctly. do you have a fan shroud fitted to your radiator as this will help dirrect the air correctly to aid in cooling.
