If you read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower you`ll see that around 1972 car producers changed how they measured horse power. Before 72 they wanted high figure hp for advertising, and after 72 lower figures for tax reasons. My 2c is that youll find the K motor hp differences not to be as big in "real life" as stated on some sites.
