  1. Will do. Wont be home until weekend though.
  2. From what i`ve seen, the 5k intake ports are a couple of mm. larger than the 4k ones. :drgrim:
  3. By using double springs, the thikness of spring wire can be reduced to avoid coilbinding when using a high lift cam. Increasing hardness of the springs is only nessesary for high reving. From Crane cams pages : Common Misconception: Many people mistakenly think that using higher seat pressures causes a reduction in the horsepower delivered to the flywheel because higher seat pressures (and also higher spring rates required for high performance) require horsepower to compress the springs. This thinking is simply incomplete! For every valve that is opening and its valve spring being compressed, another valve is closing and its valve spring is expanding. This expansion returns the energy to the valve train and the engine. This results in a net power loss of "0" hp. Many engineering texts refer to this as the "regenerative characteristic" of the valve train. Recent tests at Crane have shown no horsepower loss on a hydraulic roller equipped engine when changing the seat pressure from 135# to 165#. Power actually improved significantly at top end, probably due to better control of the relatively heavy valves in the engine. Use a good oil to avoid "killing cam lobes". Double row cam chain is recomended no matter what springs you use.
  4. No need to open. They are the bolts seen from front to rear. The ones you would remove to open
  5. T-series diff: center is held by 10 bolts S-series diff: center is held by 8 bolts. :lolcry:
  6. Interesting. I once bought a t40 out of a 76 ta28 celica and it had the shifter in "rear" position. Could have been changed ofcourse, but doubt it. In Europe we got some carina ta12 , ta14 and ta40 as well. don't know about shifter pos. on those. I have a couple of 82/83 carina ta60 t50 boxes as well but they are the big bearing 22spline type.
  7. t18 is an Australian vertion of the te72 I belive , newer than 78. So in USA there was only one vertion of the t50 gearbox tailhousing from 71 to 78 ? Apart from te2x , te3x and ta22 what cars did they come in ?
  8. So do the t 18 / te72 have the same gearbox tailhousing as the early celica ta22 ? Anyone confirm ? If so, it would explain why the guy I got mine from said it was off a 3t engined car...
  9. Or maybe an idea to put this into the FAQ together with piston cc info? http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...&hl=finally
  10. Make sure all contact surfaces are 100% clean when mounting. Cross tighten when you torque it. 6.2k for fly 2.1k for clutch I belive the flywheels are balanced seperatly. Has Yours been lightened or resurfaced? Were all the dowels in the flywheel when you mounted the pressure plate? It bolted on without any drama? If you got accesss to a magnetic stand dial guage, You could stick it on to see whats going on. Is there any difference if clutch is engaged or not? (sure its running on all 4? )
  11. Did You remember to put a spigot bearing into end of crank?
  12. The reason the exhaust gasses should come out that far back is to prevent them from coming into the car, causing you to fall asleep ,and becoming... well kind of dangerous in traffic :D
  13. Could be coming from tailshaft. Guessing you changed it during your convertion? Worn uni joints, missing balance weights or bent?
  14. On ke30s there are 2 12v feed lines to the coils. One comes from "start" on ignition switch and goes directly to primary side of coil. The other one comes from "ig" on ignitonswitch and goes via the coil resistor and becomes 8v on the coil primary. This is why you get higher voltage on coil while starting. Take a look at your voltage regulator. I think there is a connection called "ig" on it . You can use this to feed your fan relay. Its fused aswell, so better than the coil feed. Would be interesting to see the el.drawing of the ke15...
  15. Its probably out of a pre mid 76 ke35 3k-b. You don't have to use a ta22 box if that one is no good . Any smallbearing 20 spline t50(older than 82 or something) would do. Just change over tailhousing and shifter shafts to suit your favoured shifter pos.
  16. some figures here.... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...c=11631&hl=
  17. How about posting upp some weights ?
  18. Nice ! Coil spec as well. Been looking for that. Wouldnt happen to have coil wiering as well?
  19. I`ve seen 51kw @ 5000 rpm and 117nm @ 3200rpm in a german magazine from 86
  20. Extension housings from starlets and ke55 have the shifter about 10 cm further forward then the ke70. The Gearboxes have the same overall length so tailshafts remain the same.
  21. Off topic I know, but just have to ask. posted instead of pm since I`m sure I`m not the only one who would like to know: What gearbox does the charmant use? I read that it was a 5speed but is it a k50 or a t50? Does it have a seperate bellhousing? Hydraulic or wire clutch ? Cheers, Tor
  22. Could be just jdm, but the 5k came in corolla ke74, corona kt147, carina ka67 and some forklifts as well as the km36... Good luck searching. 3 first mentioned came with t40 gearboxes.
  23. Weight of reductiongear starter is 4.1kg . Normal one is 5.2kg
