  1. Legally 14" rims with 60 tires are the biggest you can go as I found out. Just so you know.
  2. That was the borg warner thing I saw. There didn't seem to be a plate or anything where you circled, it's just flat metal. I'll look at the points tomorrow. I just had a massive pain getting the tacho in and it ended up not looking so good. I need to just enjoy driving the car for a bit so I don't feel like kamikazing it off a cliff. I'm sure we all know the feeling.
  3. jono I had a look at the diff but the only writing I saw was borg warner. Oh well Getting the jumping sorted sounds like to much of a hassle. I'll just love it as it is. It's been a mission putting the tacho in where the clock goes
  4. I looked at that plate and it didn't have a code or anything after trans/axle. Just the colour/trim code and whatever the bottom one was.
  5. 8 kind of seemed more right. Why is 8 right?
  6. If you've already go the rolla running sweet don't go putting a bigger motor in and raping (crashing) it drifting. Keep it as a daily and get a drift pig and pig it up with super stiff suspension, powerfuly unstreetable engine, not worrying too much about the body etc.
  7. I just roughly measured my suzuki swift (not gti) seats and it looks like 3 bolts would bolt right up and the 4th needs to be changed. It's at 90 degrees to the rolla bolt hole and not in the right place.
  8. Thanks for the info. Towe that's some good info but I couldn't find the diff code in the engine bay. I'm sure I'm just not seeing it but it doesn't seem to be on either of the plates on the firewall. I think I'll just live with a jumpy tacho for now and check it out later if its too much of a pain. At idle, when the tacho is set on 4 it says about 1200rpm, 6 says 1000 8 says 800. I'm putting the dash back together so I'll set it on 4 and assume it's right and worry about how high I'm revving the car. With the mods done it shouldn't change the redline at all should it? Unless it has a wild cam that gives it power at like 5000rpm. Sorry for the stupid questions and thanks for the help so far guys.
  9. I might be up for it if I'm not working.
  10. I just read through the build up and really enjoyed it. I got a KE70 yesterday and I've been cleaning it up today so this gave me some inspiration to put more effort in. She looks good.
  11. What speeds should I be doing in different gears eg. 60kpm in 4th = 3000rpm etc. so I can figure it out by driving?
  12. The only writing I can find is NEO. I used to have a $40 tacho that worked fine. Could it be loose wires or something?
  13. When the tacho is set on 4, if I sit in the car and rev it to what sounds like 3-4000 rpm and it says 6000. When I was driving the car with the tacho was set on 6, it got its power at about 4000 rpm and went up to about 6500rpm. If I set the tacho to 4 it says the revs are higher. That would mean it's getting power at 4500 or so and redlining at 7 or 7500rpm. If I set it on 8 it says the revs are lower. The engine is a 4K and mods I know of are: a cam, the engine has been bored an unknown amount, I think it has a 3K head, 4 to 1 extractors & exhaust.
  14. With a budget of $900 you should be able to get a cleanish stock KE70 if you look hard enough, then you can just drive it and mod it when you get the money. Or you could save some more money and get one that's already been modded. The thing about KE70s (and most cars) is that you don't really get back the money you put into them, which makes it great to buy ones that have been done up nicely but not so good if you mod one and want to sell it on. Just don't get an unfinished project or one with dodgy mods unless you want to spend (waste) time and money on it.
  15. I bought a KE70 yesterday, with a worked 4k. It has a monster tacho, which I'm moving to replace the clock in the dash. On the back of the tacho it has a switch with three setting marked 4 6 8. I assume these are different settings for 4, 6 & 8 cylinder cars. The tacho was set on 6 and if I change it to 4 it seems like the revs it's reading are too high. Also the needle seems pretty jumpy/shaky when it's set on 6. I know I've read about this somewhere before but couldn't find the info. So what's the right setting for it before I seal it inside the dash?
  16. For not serious 4WDing i reckon a 16v would be fine, a 20v less so and also more expensive. If you're serious about putting a new engine in your car it's probably a good idea to research what's involved in the conversion before making any decisions at all. I'm pretty sure there's no straight swap you can do and everything's going to take some work so research and decide.
  17. It sounds like a cool thing and I'd love to bring my celica some night. I have a 21st to attend this Friday tho so if it continues on maybe I'd be there.
  18. I've got a TA22 I've been missioning to get all the bugs sorted. I think it just needs points & condenser that I'm ordering today and it should be sweet. I hope. Hooray!
  19. I think you can use TA22 celica headlights with modified brackets or something. Sorry for the unhelpfulness. You should be able to search ae86driving club even if youre not a member I think. I'm sure they'd have the info there. Or maybe a search of here and toymods might find something?
  20. I was actually trying to get the tie rods off my TA22 Celica and I got that bar off with one of those tools like a heavy duty multi-grips and it took a while. I took the nuts off and totally couldn't get the tie rods out. Apparently they're on a tapered thread which is why they're so tough but they were impossible. I tried WD40ing them and whacking them out with a hammer and it didn't move. I've done them before on other cars and they've never been hard like that. I gave up and the car is going into the mechanics tomorrow but does anyone have any tips for that, other than the blow torch?
  21. Go into the topic, click edit then from the drop down menu click full edit then above the box for writing it is the title and subject lines that you can freely change. This is probably mentioned somewhere in the FAQ or something.
  22. I've got a 3T engine and it has to be bored out and I was wondering if it's worth getting it bored up to 2 litres. The engine is stock with extractors and exhaust and will have a down draught webber. Would giving it a bigger bore give any performance gains? And does anyone know somewhere good to go to on the sunshine coast? Cheap is good. Thanks
  23. But the price of these bad boys is being dragged up because they're basically a budget AE86 without the sporty looks. Plus this one has a fair bit done to it.
  24. Agreed. Everyone knows how much they'd take for something so I think just saying no EOI's, just put a price on it or it gets deleted.
  25. Ok so stock pistons and a webber. I went to a carbie guy who said the webber'll give me a good power increase over the stock carbie as well as being more tunable and should just need an adapter plate to bolt on. So questions answered. Thanks guys.
