  1. Once I have money again I would be very interested in this if it was bolt on and depending on price.

  3. I did the clock install thing and had the same problem and now have mine set on 6, which seems to be right. Weird.
  4. Yeah I found a couple of reasons not to just swap cams. Once the engine is in and running I think I'll take it to someone and see what they would do to it and how much they would do it for and all that and go from there. Thanks for the help.
  5. I got it off here a few weeks ago. Link here. It's got a weber of as yet unknown specs, electronic ignition, extractors and 2" exhaust.

  8. I've got the 5K, pulled some bits off to replace seals and gaskets and I'm already forgetting where stuff goes and getting over it. But if I can get my shit together I'll have the 5K in tomorrow and much excitement will be had. I've really been enjoying driving this car and I'll almost be sad to see the old 4K go, hopefully only until I discover the raw power of the 5K.

  10. I'm looking for the torque settings for the 5K flywheel & rocker gear. I've looked in FAQ and Google but neither seem to have the info. Thanks in advance.
  11. I always use what ever engine code seems to roll off the tounge more nicely. I say AE eight six, KE seventy, AE seven one etc. I probably should stick to one or the other but I don't. Was that a valid argument?

  13. This is how it looked when I picked it up. I was going to take some pics today but found the camera isn't here. Up close it's not too clean but there are no major rust or dents. Current pics up tomorrow hopefully.
  14. You have a 3k or 4k and a k40 box yes? You want 5 speed. Get a k50, unless you have a super hardcore engine or just like raping your gearbox.
  15. I've had this KE70 for about 2 months and so far and I've only done a few minor cosmetic mods. De-stickered, old steering wheel I had, pool ball shift knob, monster tacho mounted dodgily in dash, seat covers & aluminum exhaust tip. The original tip was about 3" long after the muffler and the new one is about 7". It's just siliconed on for a bit of bling bling but it it actually made the exhaust a lot quieter. Current specs are: 4K engine with a cam of unknown specs. It gets power at 3000rpm Extractors 2" Exhaust 1.5" cut springs 14"x 6 Globe Rims E-gay bucket seat Here are some pics from when I picked it up. I picked up a 5K with a weber today that I'll be putting in in the next week or two. I don't have any real plans but dreams are opening up the 5K and getting everything balanced. Getting a front lip, having the small amounts of rust cut out and a cheap white spray job and getting some good suspension when I feel like what I've got is holding me back. More pics up tomorrow.

  17. No worries. I just thought there might be someone who had some experience dealing with K engines or even just carbs. I called someone when I put my last engine in who didn't know anything about 2Ts and said you can't lighten stock flywheels.
  18. Or you could power up the 4k. The 4k with (extractors, exhaust, cam, unknown carby) I've got now is faster than the stock 4AC I used to have, sounds better and has more street cred. Kind of. Anyway I like it enough I'm going 5k and powering that up. EDIT: but if you're planning to go 4AG in the future, doing the 4AC conversion will put all the bits in place as someone said then you can just drop the 4AG in when you get the funds. Plus a 4AC should pretty much come free with all those bits sort of thing.
  19. A yellow *E7* slant front (KE70 I think) with 4 spoke mags and a pedo bear sticker peeking over back window in Maleny. Also a white lateish model corolla wagon and blue bug eye rolla driving together or something. I'd driven that road with the white rolla a few weeks ago I think. I was in a white KE70.
  20. I'm buying a 5K next week with a weber, extractors & 2" exhaust. I have a cam from a 4K I'll put in. I'm thinking about pulling it apart, rebuilding it and getting the internals balanced, port and polish and shaved head and flywheel before I put it in the car. Is there someone good in Brisbane to talk to about getting this done?

Even though ethanol is a far more environmentally friendly fuel than petrol, the amount of land that is needed to produce ethanol means that there is only so much that can be produced before it becomes either economically or environmentally unviable. If we use significant amounts of farming land worldwide, which was previously used for food production, less food will be produced, which will make it more expensive. Clearing forest to produce ethanol is obviously environmentally unfriendly, like in Brazil. Also the amount of energy that is used to produce ethanol makes it less efficient overall than just looking at how it burns. Ethanol also generates more than twice as much ozone as petrol, which creates a different kind of pollution. I don't think cash for clunkers or ethanol are the answer. I'd push people towards smaller, more fuel efficient cars and diesels, Europe style.
  22. I thought I was getting about 8.8 litres per 100 but I just did the maths again and either my numbers or my maths are very out. I'll have to recheck.
  23. I wonder how much the health system spends on looking after smokers every year? Ban smoking, drinking, fatty foods = Cut medical care costs in half = Win?
  24. I didn't mind the first 3 pics at all. I've always dreamed of an E30 with a cool engine. And being a pirate. Things went downhill from there though.
