Hi all, I have a Hilux (old model 5 stud) diff for my ke20... it is getting cut down soon & i wanted to know if anyone knows/have dealt with a workshop in Sydney area that can supply a Disk brake kit, to convert from drummies. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mark M

QUICK UPDATE OK just been saving and ringing around for quotes and ideas, here's whats going to be G.O. with the diff: -Locked Centre -Shortened & matched to ke20 diff by Drive Trans -Disk brake kit from Craft Diffs Going on an AusRotary cruise tonight, get my power fix for the weekend... Just remember one thing: It's NOT A DAILY DRIVER! As a cheap option it sounds good to weld (if done properly), Only going to be driving it to the strip, and the occasional highway cruise....

YES i do know welding the diff is illegal. It is a Hilux open-wheeler, going into a ke20 (4agTe)... The car will be used as an "every other weekend" cruiser & 1/4 mile car... So it will be registered and engineered with everything other than the welded diff... any more info?

I'm probably after a centre that is fully locked... Welding weakens the centre, making it easier to break...don't want that... cheers, Mark M

hmm nice controlled drifting....much easier in a big skyline than in a 800kg corolla..HAHAH thanks for the info guys, iv been looking at air lockers, detroit, full spool, mini spool, etc and it's all very confusing till u speak to someone thats used it...

OK everyone, DIff's were delivered to my house today at lunch, both are Hilux open-wheelers, one for my car, one for my mate's 323 (12a BP)... They'r in good nick and were still in cars at the wreckers with low K's... We're both going Locker (Not Welded) with the centres... And i'm going with a disk conversion, not sure about Adam... Here's some pics (they need a good hit with degreaser)...ENJOY!

UPDATE! it's been a while and i found a diff... After a long time searching for a hilux LSD at the right price, or finding a complete one at all, i have decided to go with an open-wheeler Hilux RWD with 4.1 ratio... The diff will then be shortened and locked...also get treated to a disk conversion... Picking up the diff tomoro, will post up pics... cheers, Marky Mark

Well excUUUUUUse ME! Just relax a bit champ, BJ never said anything about rego....Drag car build maybe? I'm with u BJ, go 13b turbo...but keep it off the street, he's right about insurance... i'd go 13bt in my '20...but i want to be able to drive it on the street... that car will be an animal...i can imagine it to be something like a ride in a VW beetle with a Jet Engine...
