and I quote... "If you are wanting to turbo I would suggest a 4agze 16 valve head as the 20 valve wont offer any real advantages, plus its easier to put really big injectors and a large plenum on a 16 valve head. Tuning a turbo with multiple throttle bodies isnt straightforward. The 20 valve needs HD valve springs if you run high boost due to valve float and the head doesnt handle the higher thermal loads as well as a 16 valve. If you put GZE pistons with a 20 valve you will need to have valve reliefs to suit the 5 valves cut into your pistons."
-
I have spoken to the dude who does stroker kits for 4a's etc and he said the 20v head wouldn't really be worth it due to valve problems/tuning etc so a GZE head on a 7A-FE block or something. haha

How Hard Is It To Supercharge The 4age?
1G-GTE KE70 replied to MISS SX's topic in Engine Conversions
4A-GZE pistons and thicker metal head gasket to lower compression. -
thanks for that info. either way i'd most likely have to get new manifolds etc so it would fit in rwd as both the 3S and 7A are FWD. and also a 7A is far cheaper than a 3S especially considering i'm going to be redoing internals etc anyway. thanks again

i've got some deep dish chrome pistons. 15x9 i don't know why they have a ring of rubber around them but.. must be the piston ring
-
cool. i'll check those links out when i get time. thanks guys. looks like the 20v 7A-GTE is the way to go.
-
dunno about that. stock suspension compared to my koni adjustable coilovers, wider tyres, lower ride height and 4 wheel disc brakes :( :)

i myself find it pointless to have an oil catch can in a N/A car. the reason that turbo cars get them is due to the nature of forced induction oil vapours somehow manage do come back up the intake lines and coat the inside of your intercooler/turbo with oil making them less efficient. it stops the oil vapour before it gets to your expensive car parts.

I have found an interesting page on this http://www.billzilla.org/starleteng.htm go down to the title that says 7AGTE 20 Valve. thats pretty much what I want only I'll get forged internals as he states the 7A rods aren't so strong.
-
so you suggest working a 7a? no matter what engine i would most likely get custom forged internals for strength so i can rev it higher safely. so the 4a and 7a have identical bore but the stroke is just longer?
-
hmmm if i was to get the 7a i would still need to get new pistons and conrods etc so I may as well just do that to a 4A-GZE block. like i can keep the smaller size of the 4a but have the same capacity of a 7a. but then mr revhead has said to consider putting 4A-GZE internals into a 20v and/or I could just work the shit out of a 20v. money is really no object because I'm getting $21/hr dayshift and $26/hr nightshift at work. and thats 40hours a week every week. so money is no problem. and because I could get a shitter ke70 for like $300 I'm going to spend heaps on suspension/engine mods instead of buying like a s13 silvia and then only spending like $3000 on stuff. I don't need to car to rev that high as it's turboed/cams/ported etc so it will have plenty of torque down in the middle of the rev range. but I am going to build an engine that does rev as high as it possibly can safely. make sure everything is balanced and shit so it doesn't explode after 7000rpm. superjamie: did you see me on HPIv9. it's the third chapter. I'm drifting a JZX81 mkII Chaser with a 2jz that revs to 7800 and hits boost at 5000. by the way my drift name is tezuka and i wear a japanese mask so no one knows what i look like........ it's true.... haha I love that car so much man it sounds insane.
-
which is why i'm turboing it and stroking/boreing it :S p.s. heaps of torque it isn't funny for a 4A-G engine. and the car will only weigh about 800kg approx.
-
it will be for drift so I don't need massive power. I want to build a tough as nails bullet proof lumpy cammed beast with so much torque it isn't funny (without going overbored hehe) but yeah it's not going to be a dyno mule it is going to be held at high RPM for extended periods of time. does the 20v silvertop have oil squirters onto the bottom of the pistons to keep it cool?
-
HAHAHA... mine will be 20v but :robot: well... the most insane 4A-GTE In Brisbane (maybe even Queensland but dunno haha) in a KE70 used for drift. :S
-
Just doing some research for my next drift beast project. It will involve the most insane 4A-GTE you will ever see :S (dead serious too) It will be a track only car so it won't be registered for road use (That will be for my MZ20 Soarer :wootjump: ) anyways I was wondering if it is possible to fit a 20v 4A-GE head onto a 4A-GZE bottom end? Thanks for your help. I will keep you guys posted as to the progress of this project. It probably won't be in action till the end of the year (well the engine bit, the car body modifying will be but) Thanks
-
yeah.... another FWD  HAHAHAHA welcome!!!!
-
to get any car (ESPECIALLY) a FWD into the 12's costs a damn lot of money.
-
my 4k is lucky to get 400k's from a tank. i think i'm leaking petrol out the filler hole but. i've got an old dodgy plastic cap on it haha. it works out to about 1$ of petrol per 10K's. thats what it usually works out to regardless of petrol cost.
-
what a drifter..... who wants to buy my 1G KE70 after the drift nats?
-
man I saw pics of that WRX. I am so dissapointed in him. he probably has no choice (sponsors said drive this so he had to) but man.... a f@$king wrx for drift. that is so gay. I would rather his sprinter any day. no matter how good a wrx it. the mere fact that they had to convert it to rear wheel drive. you can't even drift them stock. but yeah he's one of the most consistent drifter out there. I hope he tells them to get f@$ked and goes back to the sprinter.
-
haha. i just saw that the wheelarch on my car is dinted in as well. so if anyone sees a dark coloured car with yellow paint on the drivers side, stop them and bash them!
-
:D I was driving to the internet cafe thingo near me cos we don't have the net at home anymore and i came over the hill on my street and this car comes rocketing past me and smashes off my side vision mirror. and so i pulled over straight away into a driveway. got out walked back to the hill and the car had legged it. he just f@$ked off (probably to f@$k his mother). so I picked up my disheveled side vision mirror and chucked it in the car. then proceded to do a big skid (only able to because of some drift damage i got which has since then 'disabled' my drum brakes due to a big brake fluid leak out of them) but yeah what a wanker. he didn't even stop. I hope I put a big scrape or something on his car.

silver top 20 Valve cheapish and awesome engines. and stronger than blacktops. turbo later on down track = good!
