  1. hey all. I noticed today that the fuel return line on my ke70 was bucketing out fuel. I havnt got a hose attached to it as the new carbs i have don't have a return line. Is there a way i can block it up? Or should i maybe put a double fuel pipe on the second carb and run a hose back to the return line? Any advice/help would be great
  2. dress ups! Do it! Oh yeah got my engine sorted. Bought a timing light, best $56 ive ever spent! Was to far advanced a few teeth. Now just got to get the carbs kinda tuned. Tomorrow hopefully. High fives all round haha
  3. it would handle like crap. It'd be extremely front heavy so you'd have to spend alot on suspension work to even things out. This would also make steering really heavy. And given the width of an 8 it would probably limit the steering lock. And what ive picked up as a rule with engine conversions is anything will fit in anything. Just depends how much time and money you've got as to how insane you can go. Also, you should never put an engine in a car just because you have a spare whatever in your backyard.
  4. negative on the timing light. I havnt been moving it teeth or anything. Just adjusting it a few mm with the bolts that hold the dizzy in. Its near on perfect tho. Is it possible that its 180 out?
  5. hey garnett i have a question for you. Is it possible that my timing is a whole spin out? Ive been trying to fine tweek it by advancing/retarding by just moving the dizzy a bit but its still backfiring out the carb and has no power.
  6. next saturday at 3pm i believe. This suits me well. Gives me time to get my carbs sorted.
  7. that sucks! If i make it there you could prob jump in the back of mine
  8. ive made sure there is no air leaks anywhere. And i bought the engine with the conversion already done, they were running/tuned/set up to be on the engine. The only thing that ive changed is it came with a bigport hks manifold with a bigport-smallport adaptor, and ive put a smallport redline manifold on as space was limited.
  9. hey all. Ive got a 4age with twin solex 40PHH Carbs. Ive just got it started and running. It runs but not well. It had no power, wouldnt go over 10-15ks, was back firing out the exhaust and out of the carbs. Ive checked the timing, thats all good and i can think of what else would be causing it. Can anyone shead some light? Cheers josh
  10. you make it sound so easy. Unfortunatly i don't have a welder. But garnett is helping me tomorrow arvo. So fingers crossed.
  11. so meet at 3 at curtin? On saturday? Hope thats enough time in the morning to get my exhaust done.
  12. yeah thatd be good dude. Ive got a mechanic mate coming round tonight to check if its the timing. And I'm gona have a fiddle with the carbs. I'll let you know how it goes. Sounds like its going to be a rad little workshop. Oh yeah it would have been tuned when i got them, but that was a long time ago, and they have since been taken apart, put back together, screws turned etc etc.
  13. will you be able to make custom exhausts and like intercooler piping? And also will you be able to import/source parts?
  14. thats hell good news garnett! Um yeah linkage hooked up all good, clearance is good etc etc. I took it for a run up the street and back last night. Its slow. Like 10-15ks slow. I duno if like the timings out, or if its just the carbs need a tune, or if its got no back pressure cause its just running through the extractors, or air could be leaking through where the carbs bolt to the manifold. Any ideas? Edit: or linkage might be flexing?
  15. oooh exciting! I think a good idea would be supercharger kits for a/k/t series engines. I would buy one
  16. thats awesome news dude. Garnett is working his magic on my linkage, and i redid/cleaned up my wiring today. I should be mobile aswell. And chris, 140! Thats insane. I was going flat out in the panno last cruise and was nowhere near that.
  17. tis also illegal. And its not always unsafe. At least you know for sure that both wheels will spin. It wont go open all of a sudden
  18. ive cut quite a few springs, and ive never taken them out. Just cut til its almost through, then stand back a bit to cut the rest haha. On my old panel van my rear drive lights and number plate lights didnt work. So i ran a wire from the battery to a switch in side then to the back lights so i could turn them on manually. Also was good because i could turn the number plate light off for back street skids. Also on panel van, broke the window winder, so just hooked a multigrip on there. And the drivers window came unstuck, so i just put a few blobs of silicon on the rail and put the glass back in. Worked fine til i got rid of it.
  19. oooooooh. That sounds awesome. I'm down for that.
  20. thats north!? I have to drive 20mins south to get to curtin haha
  21. legend. I picked up the last of the bits this morning. So see you sat then. K, back on topic. Is there a definate date/time/meeting point/map yet?
  22. thanks chris. haha yeah as cool as it is i think it'd be best to stop it. Um, ive had the timing checked by 2 diff mechanics, but i spose a 3rd check wont hurt. Oh yeah, do you also have a soldering iron?
  23. late morning would be best. Make sure ive got everything sorted. You know how to tune carbs to? Haha mine are spitting flames out of all 4 barrels.
  24. i was going to go to cbc and a go kart place early sat morning. Try get everything ready for you garnet haha. Other than that i'll be working on it, finishing other stuff. So if you wanted to come up that'd be good. While I'm here, anyone know of any other bearing places in perth? Incase cbc don't have what i need
