I put a KE36 diff centre into my AE71, however when i tightened the pinion shaft, it loaded up the bearing and wouldn't spin. I think this was because the shim wasn't on it at the time, but just remember to compare the pinion shaft lengths when you do the swap. I ended up using the AE71 pinion until i found a full diff, but this mismatched combo howled like crazy.

Well I cheated, just found the standard length as measured by redwarf a while ago: 800mm centre to centre.

The centre gear would allow the cam gear to rotate in the correct direction. It spins the same way as the crank gear. (Imagine the chain drive)

Hey nice rolla, How easy is it to fit the Celica diff, is there much difference in the way of mounts/springseats etc? I think you said in a post on AE86dc it sits further back. Is it minor or did you overcome this?

Oh well, I'll just have to take what i get, or get Andrew's Dad to bring it for me. :abuse: Yes I'm in Humpty Doo, the junk i have so far is only an old Corolla Borg warner housing and axles (says KE36 on it) And a mate has a pair of standard KE70 struts with rooted tops. The reason I ask about the Simms and T diff info, is because a friend has an unwanted, engineless RA60 I'm hoping to grab. Just working out what is useful for an AE71 (Struts/diff) Another mate has dibs on the Gearbox atm though.

Hey, I understand that the T series diff out of a T18 fits into KE70s and AE71s, but I hear you can cut down a celica t series diff (RA60). But will this diff housing fit on a *E7* chassis? As in do the spring seats/4-links/panhard rod match up? And just wondering about taking car shells to simms. Do they buy them off you or is it a matter of you paying them to take it away? Any help would be appreciated - Cheers, Phil

For comparison's sake, what would the standard KE70 springs be in terms of kg/mm? Also Littleredspirit, i take it you run 6mm front/4mm rear? How is that for ride comfort?

Why did toyota decide to mount K series motors on an angle in the first place?

I like the intentions behind this, but wouldn't everyone just fill the day before/after? I just can't imagine one day of boycotting fuel stations having any effect. I may be wrong of course, but can anyone explain how this will cause oil companies to "choke on their own stockpiles"?

Hey, I've been looking at different stock toyota upgrades, and came across the 17mm tercel rear swaybar upgrade. This got me wondering, does the tercel have a borgy like E7s? Searching on tercel4wd/google, i found hints that the tercel has a T series diff, so I was interested to know if this is a viable upgrade option, like the T18 diff. Any help much appreciated, cheers, -Phil
