Hi all Some details of TCCAV's first motorkhana event of the year: Motorkhana Practice Day - 29th January 2012 Co hosted by the Toyota Car Club of Australia (Vic) and the Ford Four Car Club The day is a very relaxed (and cheap) event for those who have a CAMS licence and want to give Motorkhana a try. It is also a great opportunity for anyone interested to come and have a look. There may be an opportunity to ride as passenger with one of the regular competitors, however closed shoes and a completed indemnity form will be required. Where - At Werribee TCCA Club Ground, 300 metres from the south end of McGrath Road ‐ enter McGrath Road from the south. Melway 205 B10 or Grid 37 54 32 S, 144 37 35 E For more information contact David Batcheler on 0418 568 213 or email to cotku‐[email protected] We could also do with some helpers from club members on the day, and its a bit of fun thrashing about in the dirt, so we would love to see a good turn out to this one. You should have pulled your finger out when the farken thing still had rego on it ;) -
Christmas Day was good and bad to the Charade... She lives outside so she sadly copped a bit of a peppering from the big hail storm that came through Melbourne. Its not bad, and the shit paint hides it pretty well! On the good side, I scored a Gopro HD Hero2 camera kit for capturing better race footage without annoying rattles in the audio! Happy days

Make sure you have the right radiator cap for your system, as that will not help circumstances. I also say this every time someone has an overheating problem on here. Rarely does a home done radiator flush get all the crap out of a 30+ year old radiator. It really needs a professional clean out done at a radiator shop. Its worth the $200 spend to have a reliable radiator in the car. At least that coolant doesn't look milky in your photo, though its only a small sample to tell by. Get that leak fixed up, sort out your radiator and cap, and then see where you are at.

Hi folks TCCAV will kick off the new year with a return to one of our favourite venues, Sky High at Mt Dandenong. Date is 15th January, meet time is at 8.30am Great little drive up there, and as always we will be providing donuts to go with the coffee. The event is open to all car enthusiasts, Toyota owning or not. Hopefully see a few of you there! Adam

What is legal on a steering wheel?? I am no expert on these things. It doesn't have a padded centre, so I believe the answer would be no its not legal. Are you going to drive around like a tool with an obviously modified car on p-plates? If the answer is yes, then you will probably get pulled over and canaried. All my cars have been clean and relatively subtle, and I have driven sensibly generally, and I have never once had an issue with a car having an aftermarket steering wheel on it.

Stu PR told me you are a good bloke... so you must have done something right.

It was $120 I think... second hand... from ae86dc Buy one of these and be done with it http://www.otomoto.com.au/p/4116538/kkr-suede-steering-wheel.html

A plan for something that occurs at the end of February? LOL... I am definitely not that organised. Other than get the event on people's radars and into their diaries I have had no thoughts. Open to suggestions - what were you hoping for?

Now that our show is out of the way, we should start planning to have a great presence at this one as well! TCCAV should have a crack at this one I think: ClubJudgingCriteria Put it in your diary for Sunday 26th Feb 2012, as I am tipping it will be a good day.

Now that Classic Japan is out of the way, we should start some planning for the next big show n shine on the calendar, Hanging Rock. It's always an awesome day with massive turn out of cars - 2,500 normally - and we always have a good representation of Toyotas. Date is Sunday February 12th, 2012, so stick it in your calendar now! Who is keen?

Well said Parrot.. I concur on all fronts! Thanks to everyone who made the event what it was today! Awesome, awesome awesome! Who would have thought we would be getting sunburnt today after yesterday's weather. Big thanks to Toyota, Shannons and Chroma Canvas for supporting the event, and even bigger thanks to the club members who spent their time BBQ'ing, selling raffle tickets, directing traffic etc etc. We couldn't have hoped for a better show for a first up effort, so we are stoked. I tried to get around and take a photo of every car. I think I succeeded, but if I missed you many humble apologies. Here are a few of my favourites Cosmo - Awesome! Loved this Mazda SS - great shape and so clean! The orange Datsun 1600 was just amazing. So bright, so clean, and not a twin cam turbo engine in sight! Mmmm carbs Supercharged Mighty Boy! So glad these two came.. they made my day! I am with gmonkey.. this was a sweet first gen Civic This is cool as, makes me want to follow through on my early Hilux ideas.... Ken from Queensland... yes Queensland... drove all the way for our show. How cool is that? I love a good wagon! And this is a GOOD wagon! I love this one too.. just cos its mine! Sooo many Isuzus to choose from, their support was awesome. I love the Wasp! These guys trailered this down from Ballarat. How cool is it?! Great to have some Prince's in attendance too Mmmmm Zed goodness More Honda awesomeness One of the wilder cars on show.. and he won the Chroma Canvas raffle! Honda Life, yes please. And the Suzuki guys thought they would have smallest engines on the day. No such luck! Love Justin's Crown Publica Ute Toyota Century. The fold down passenger seat was cool I could keep going and going but I won't. All the rest are here! https://picasaweb.google.com/adamlaws1974/ClassicJapanCarShow2011?authuser=0&feat=directlink If you want to see more photos of the day gripshiftslide.com - Australian Motorsport Car Culture have got some great shots on their facebook page, and Chroma Canvas - Premium Racing Artwork will also be putting their shots up in the next day or two.

Awesome. Weather is meant to be much improved so we are still all systems go!

As it turns out no.. its just a standard Charade engine bay so I have never thought to photograph it. What did you want to see? Here are a couple of photos taken by Jeffersen Welsh at the Cup Day Sprint. Lifting back wheels into corners! This guy passed me on the way to turn one at the beginning of this lap.. made me laugh as he was braking into turn one and I was still on the gas. He held me up through two, three and four, then blew me away down the back straight. Got him again at Dandenong Rd, and then he suddenly backed off coming on to the main straight. Was fun while it lasted :) Inside rear is juuuuust touching the ground I think

I was surprised at the ae71 price too. I think he is a bit keener to move some cars on and turn them into cash than he has been previously.. perhaps that is why it is sensible instead of ambitious.
-
Getting him to answer that question is tough! He knows what he has and generally wants premium price for them. I think he would take 5 grand for the red KE20, or the KE26, or the KE10. Not sure about the bamboo Ke20. I think he wants about $1500 for the AE71. He changes his mind every day though.. and it depends how you behave when you talk to him about them. He is a little hard work, but I do love him!

This is a kind of spotted.. went past PR's today and man he has some cool stuff at the moment so I thought I would share. Everything but the Stout is for sale and I reckon I would have any of them given the space/$$ equation being in my favour! First is this Stout. Owned by a 90yo bloke.. very original and old school cool. and ugly :) Then there is very neat KE26. I want it! This would be cooler if it was manual, but its still awesome. I drove it for a few days and its nice and tight. His price has got a bit more reasonable on it too. Incidentally the early KE10 you can just see in the background is also awesome. Has the cool early style dash. I want it too! This auto AE71 is a one owner I think. He said had a spot of rust under the fuel filler, but looked damned straight in the 15 seconds I had a sticky beak. Another manual KE20 that looked pretty good With some luck he is going to bring the KE26 to Classic Japan on Sunday, and maybe another one too.

That's a nice little gig Stu :) Hi guys, just a few days away now, glad to see there has been some interest! Just a few notes for everyone: Our venue is Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield and you can access the park via Yarra Bend Road, off Heidelberg Rd. Google Maps and TomTom both try to get you there via the Eastern Freeway depending on where you are coming from, but as there is no exit ramp this is no good, so keep an eye out for that. Entrants will need to be in between 8am and 9am, no exceptions. There are no allocated slots so we will be picking the best 120 cars to go on the grounds as they roll up. Make sure your ride is nice and shiny! There is a big car park attached to the grounds as well, so any one who doesn’t make the cut will still get plenty of exposure to every one rolling up for the event. Entry is by gold coin (or more!) donation to beyondblue, and the show is open to the public between 9am and 1pm. Please note if you are on show, you have made a commitment to be on show right through to 1pm, so if you are planning on leaving early, please park in the car park. There will be a sausage sizzle on the day, or bring your own picnic, and a coffee van will also be on site. We will also have Chroma Canvas taking photos of everyone’s cars with their models, and Shannons Insurance will be on hand to discuss all things insurance. If you have any questions, please contact Adam Laws via email (preferred) [email protected] or 0413 001 666. See you there!
